So we've already had a special Ivan Reitman directed episode, a Ricky Gervais written episode, and we're still awaiting the J. J. Abrams directed episode to hit sometime soon. News hit the blogs this week that none other than "Mr. Firefly/ Buffy/ Astonishing X-Men" himself, JOSS WHEDON, is now onboard to direct an episode of The Office as well. According to Televisionary: Rumor has it that Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator and TV ubergod Joss Whedon will return to television to direct an upcoming episode of NBC's hit sitcom (and Televisionary obsession) The Office. The move marks Whedon's first return to the small screen since the release of Firefly feature film spinoff Serenity. Before that, the prolific creator wrote and directed a number of episodes on Buffy, Angel, and Firely (and wrote his fair share of Roseanne scripts as well).
Entertainment Weekly verified the rumor yesterday, so it seems a lock. What, if anything, will Whedon bring to our favorite work-space? Only time will tell.
