Geez... what the heck? Only seven days since THE NEGOTIATION and we have another NEW episode? I'm completely gobsmacked. Kidding aside, NBC describes SAFETY TRAINING thus-wise: SAFETY TRAINING 8:30/7:30c TV14 04.12.2007
SAFETY
LESSONS IN THE OFFICE - Andy (Ed Helms) returns to the office after
several weeks of anger management training, determined to make a fresh
start with all the Dunder-Mifflin employees. Meanwhile, it's safety
training day in the office, and Michael (Golden Globe winner Steve
Carell) and Dwight (Rainn Wilson) are on a mission to illuminate the
true dangers of the workplace. John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer, B.J.
Novak, Leslie David Baker, Brian Baumgartner, Kate Flannery, Mindy
Kaling, Angela Kinsey, Paul Lieberstein, Oscar Nunez, Phyllis Smith,
Creed Barton, Rashida Jones and Craig Robinson also star.
As we asked on the last podcast, will Andy find a place for himself at Dunder-Mifflin? Have we had enough of his Cornell referencing shenanigans? Guess we'll soon see. Remember, Ian & I will be in the TWSS chatroom tonight after the show, at 9pm Eastern/8pm Central. Also, NBC finally posted a deleted scene from THE NEGOTIATION... it's pretty long, and not THAT funny (Michael talks in-depth about how he came to buy his suit, and how he got popped in the eye by a "Missy Elliot type"), so I can see why it was deleted.

Yeah, they should have tied the two plotlines together at the end. Nobody seemed to notice that Michael and Dwight had disappeared up to the roof - the others should have been betting on what crazy-ass thing they were up to. I would have put money on Creed winning that. Great to see Andy - err, sorry, Drew - back and \"laying on the charm\". I\'m sure he\'ll wear Dwight down soon enough.

Second viewing, I liked it a little bit more. Jim smiles at Pam\\\'s head and then acknowledges the camera catching him do that. And what was with Karen trying to make Jim faces in the warehouse? Poser. Get out of here Karen. Not trying to start a thing, with the hold outs on Team Karen, but Karen still dating Jim is making me really dislike Karen in any form.

Elizabeth: I\'m pretty sure Ryan was just sitting there for the moment and for the sake of being closer to the others during the Kelly bet. He wasn\'t sitting there at the beginning of the episode. Creed is absolutely my favorite co-star right now. The betting plot line was awesome, but I wish they\'d had a really clear cut conclusion to it. I tend to think that Karen\'s talking head about not knowing the office and getting cleaned out was supposed to be the conclusion, but even with that theory, I feel like they kinda left me hanging. All it needed was a shot with the ultimate winner, (who could have been Pam) who then gave it to Michael for his \"present.\" Or the real winner gave it to Pam to give to Michael. Or at they used some of it to buy Michael ice cream. In any case, I liked the glimmer of the return of a Jim/Pam friendship. I can wait a long time for them to hook up as long as they can be friends again. I miss their banter.

Like everyone else, I enjoyed the betting plotline more than the main \"safety\" one, but thought it was a good solid episode overall. And because I can reader JAM stuff into just about anything, I will say I liked Pam\'s talking head about how the betting was fun not only because it was cute but also I thought she probably enjoyed it even more because it was a return to her and Jim goofing off at work together after he was cold to her in last week\'s episode. I\'m just saying :-)

Shun. Not so great. Like Phyllis\\\' Wedding, except more of the characters got to talk. Unshun. But....good subtle JAM and Karen realized she just doesn\\\'t belong. Yay for Kevin! Shun! C+ --- Question. Why was Ryan back at his old desk? Other question. Did Jim\\\'s hair look red to anyone else?

The problem with this episode is quite possibly more a problem with me. As the season is comming to an end and especially after last weeks \\\"series plot\\\" focused episode I just want to see the overall story advanced more. Sure we got Andy back but he wasn\\\'t really funny and by the looks of it his whole plot is going to be him sucking up to dwight. I now agree with Matt and Ian about his character\\\'s purpose being used up. Also other than Andy being back, this episode could\\\'ve been inserted into any part of the 2nd half of the season. The betting plot was the only good thing in the episode.

Did anyone else notice that Drew was in Anger Management for five weeks? I thought he said ten weeks when he went in. I had not thought of the watermelon connection. But Stanley\\\'s look at the end of episode was hilarious. BTW - nobody complained in the Wikipedia discussion so I\\\'ve added TWSS to the External Links section of the The Office entry.

I feel like we got old Jim back in this episode! Although I love the JAM storyline and want to see how it plays out, I also liked seeing him be his likable self-without women issues. His asides about the various screenings of \"Michael Jumps Off the Roof\" show, and how he thought he\'d catch the matinee, were hilarious. Welcome back, non-whipped Jim!

I have come to the conclusion that Darryl is a dick. Michael deserves some amount of hard time but Darryl never cuts him a break. Nice episode. The betting plotline was great! I also liked the training plotline. The deleted scene with And, er... \"Drew\" and Kevin is hilarious.

I felt this episode was a little over the top with Michael\\\'s and Dwight\\\'s antics and the believability factor was way down. Nobody, not even Michael Scott, would have setup a trampoline and then a moon bounce in the parking lot of an office building a) as a scheme of any sort, b) without being hassled by the management company, c) as quickly as they did it, and d) un-noticed. I know it\\\'s only a TV show, but this was definitely over the top. In reference to Darryl being too nasty this time, however, you do have to remember what Michael did to him. If someone kicked a ladder out from under you I think you may have some hostility towards him. Regardless, that too approached a level of being a bit too far over the edge. However, I still found plenty of laugh out loud moments and enjoyed the show. Creed is always awesome, even if he is only taking a bite out of a potato. And I burst out with laughter the first time Michael said, \\\"Dwight, you ignorant slut!\\\". The second time put me on my side with laughter. Looking forward to next week! Jim

I liked the whole betting thing, reminded me of Office Olympics. That shot of Creed zipping his fly was priceless. I don\'t think he actually said a word this episode, but he cracked me up a couple of times. Nice job outta Pam trying Michael\'s own \"I have a surprise for you\" tactic, it almost worked too. I was kinda surprised that it quickly occured to Michael that smashing a watermelon (of all things)on a black man\'s car might be interpreted as a hate crime.

Wow, what a great, old-school episode. No heavy elements from any of the ongoing plots... no parties, weddings or other circumstances to drag them away from the office... just good old-fashioned hijinks. Even Jim and Pam felt like classic Jim and Pam here. And it certainly seems like Darryl is already getting more prominent with Roy gone. I really dug this episode.
