Well, here we are folks... the end of the strike shortened fourth season. We've had a lot of plot building this past month which all seems to be leading towards some big revelations/changes in tonight's episode. Will Toby REALLY leave? Who is going to be getting engaged? Will JAM become "Philly JAM"? I guess we shall see soon enough. From NBC.com: GOODBYE, TOBY 9/8c TV-PG 05.18.2008

I\'m really not surprised that Angela said yes to Andy--after all, she\'s already told us that she\'s good at holding grudges (like that one with her sister...). I can see her saying yes just to get back at Dwight. After all, \"the thought of putting one of his beets in her mouth makes her sick\" ;)
-
So I haven\'t really seen this anywhere, and I\'d really like to hear you guys weigh in. People are of course all worked up about the nonproposal, and Pam going to NY for three months, but who\'s thinking of Dunder Mifflin? Who\'s gonna be the receptionist for those three months?? Will we have a new character when we come back in the fall? What do ya\'ll think?
-
Hey Matt & Kevin~ I was listening to your \"Job Fair\" podcast and it hit (the idea not your podcast :) Angela and Dwight didn\'t do anything when they were both alone in the office because there were camera\'s there! No one was suppose to know that they\'d ever dated so of course they weren\'t going to do anything one camera. However, as we\'ve seen in \"Goodbye Toby,\" they got it on behind the cameras! Anyway, just thought I\'d point that out -- though many of you may have already caught that.

Random question about the episode... Did anyone else notice that Michael\\\'s cell phone ringtone when Kevin calls him was a normal ring and not his usual song? Was this a simple continuity mistake, or were the writer\\\'s trying to show Michael becoming more mature for Holly?
-
am i the only one who had a chuckle over michael and holly dealing with an... \'office chair\' ? maybe so. what was with the toby exit interview? bizarre scene. i\'ve watched it twice now and i think that\'ll do it. good eppy overall... but stretched a bit thin. HR rep\'s know better than office \'romances\'... i\'m not on team holly yet. if jan is gone, i will miss the crazy. that being said, LOVED the end cliffhanger... ;)
-
watched it again and loved it! i always did like it, but i was able to get back the initial shocks of the many surprises in the episode. and i also think its funny that the ending was called a \"cliffhanger\" because i dont really invest that much interest in it, surprisingly enough. i am a fan of Dwangela, but unfortunately the writers did not captivate me with this turn of events (if you can call it that). o well. i still love this show! and i really can\'t believe i am going to go 3 more months without it!!! or that it might not be the same (ever again :( )

I loved the episode and all but I did notice that the \"camera people\" really seemed to make Pam think that Jim was going to propose in her talking head at the start of the outdoor festivities. I know that the camera people do move the stories along from time-to-time but this seemed like a really big plot point to mess with, especially when it led to Pam being so upset at the end. The way I look at it, Pam wouldn\'t have been nearly as upset over the non-proposal had the camera people not implied that Jim was gonna propose soon.
-
Ugh! For the past two years there has been an awesome JAM finale- why switch that up? To me, this almost felt like a series finale- Pam, Toby, and Ryan leave; Michael chooses Jan and her baby; Angela suddenly realizes she loves Dwight, Jim actually works at his job, Phyllis gains power (and seals it with a kiss from Bob Vance), and Kevin finally gets some love (albeit becuase of a presumed disability). PB&J may never find that kick-ass moment to get engaged (fireworks? lawn chairs? everyone else around? Jim is so much smoother than that!) Why wouldn\'t Jim just go home and propose that night when they are alone? I am hoping the second viewing will prove to be more enjoyable.
-
The episode was just so good this week I didn\'t even notice these two things until the second viewing: *Toby resets Michael\'s watch to costa rica time, but the alarm still goes off at the end of the night. wouldn\'t the alarm be wrong now too? *also Toby and Pam had that conversation about him getting a picture with her and then he left looking for a camera. Near the end of the episode he said again, \"I just remembered we don\'t have a picture of each other.\" The way he said it just made it sound like the other scene hadn\'t happened. wouldn\'t he have said \"we still need to get that picture?\" and he didn\'t mention whose camera it ended up being. maybe this is too picky but I just thought it sounded weird... Do people think Ryan will be back? I am still surprised they never brought Roy back after the Negotiation but even if Ryan gets out of prison he wouldn\'t be able to work for Dunder Miffline again.
-
Maybe it\'s just that I\'ve seen too many soap operas, but I was thinking...maybe Jan\'s baby IS Michael\'s, but she doesn\'t want to tell him, because she doesn\'t want him to claim fatherhood? Wouldn\'t it be funny if now Angela MARTIN is pregnant in the show? After she had to hide Angela KINSEY\'s pregnancy for the show? LOL
-
omg. this episode was RIDICULOUS! but not in a bad way. or really a good way. what i mean is that there were surprises around EVERY corner. and commercial breaks too! i was WRITHING on the couch from excitement! ;) this was really a disappointing episode for the characters (i.e. THEIR wishes and goals). i felt so awful for jim and pam, dwight (of course until the closer); michael got the baby he wanted, but not from the only woman who might be able to tolerate and LIKE him, and not even from HIM, which he really wanted. i love holly! she is so great. and i absolutely loved that she would be so perfect with michael (watching him be extremely little boy excited was hilarious! i loved jim saying \"no, calm down\" repeatedly. it was so funny to see them kind of switch roles). but i was pretty upset (ok, furious) that they couldn\'t be together because jan had to do something for michael for once. and at an extremely inopportune time. i also remember u guys saying, i think at least year\'s finale, that if jan came back pregnant you would be really upset with the writers. i\'m just interested with what u have to say now. how would angela EVER say yes to andy? i mean really!! angela is not one to do something to please others, and from the closer, we can certainly tell she isnt getting engaged to the man she wants!! (btw, closer was hilarious. phyllis was great there) speaking of phyllis, though i know you guys don\'t like her, you have to give her credit. that party was by far, probably the best they have ever had. i don\'t know if they were really having a great time, but it was pretty good. of course, jim pitched in quite a bit (only to have it stolen!!) but still, phyllis was in charge of it and delivered. i felt so bad for jim and pam at the end. poor pam was fighting back tears when she was taking pictures with toby (who she thought was \"cute\" EW!) and jim just had that proposal stolen right from under him. but andy\'s proposal was really funny, and of course, unexpected. i loved michael being so excited for toby\'s leaving, and him not allowing himself to give toby the rock (and asking rude questions!) so he can impress holly! but he was so robbed of that. poor michael had been waiting forever for that final interview. one last thing (probably not. i\'ll post more when i remember) was terrific: stupid kevin. at first, i was pretty sure kevin was in on the \"mentally challenged\" joke, but after that talking head it hit me: he really does act sort of mentally retarded. i love holly being so nice and excited for him. haha. kevin was going to \"bang\" her cause she likes him so much. that was \"awesome\"!! oh! and congrats to the writers for satisfying pam\'s need to excel and our need for her! clever, getting her into 3 month graphics school. yay pam! :) ok, well i need to rewatch it! let u know on more thoughts.
-
One of the best episodes ever. Pam\\\'s obvious disappointment at the end really worked well, the Kevin stuff was fantastic, and I really like the Holly/Michael dynamic. It\\\'s amazing -- all season we\\\'ve seen Jim afraid of being more like Michael. This episode, we see Michael being more like Jim, and it actually seems to work for him... until Jan botches it. I really hope Amy Ryan sticks around next season. Oh, and speaking of Ryans -- man, that was one sweet, sweet comeuppance.
-
note: Remember last season when Jim walked in on Dwight and Angela kissing in the office and decided not to tell anyone because Dwight had pepper-sprayed Roy away from beating Jim up? Something tells me Phyllis isn’t going to be so kind. Oh callbacks how I love you.
-
Pam’s totally going to come back from New York all artsy and free-spirited, good for her for going and good for Jim for encouraging her. I was upset when Jam didn’t get engaged, but now they have a whole other season to keep me telling my apathetic friends, “I’m so excited for Thursday, Jam is SO getting engaged!” and them rolling their eyes at me. I want to stab them sometimes. I can now get through the summer knowing that JAM will be going strong. My favorites are: - Jim’s talk with Michael about how he IS romantic. I wanted to eat up every word he was saying. -Holly is like a female Toby, yet Michael is attracted to her and respects her. -Michael smitten with Holly, and the light bulb moment when she said “Lovitz”. -Michael’s questions to Toby in the conference room. “Who do you think you are?” and “What gives you the right?” -Everything with Kevin and Holly. Has Rain Man been mentioned already? -Lastly, Jim’s support of Pam going to graphic design school. They are solid. Go JAM! My heart breaks for Michael with Jan’s baby bombshell. He has always wanted a wife and kids. Maybe Holly will be his Catherine Zeta-Jones. Anyone else think Jim will try for Ryan’s old job since Pam will be going to school in NY? I want to see Jim with his shirt off!! WOOOO!!!!
-
I watched this episode a 2nd time & loved it even more. This is a legendary, classic episode & an awesome finale. I think we\'ll be given the impression that PB & J are in danger, but ultimately they will get what we all want...they\'ll be happy together. Let\'s relax & enjoy that ride, & hope they don\'t try any lame tricks & plot twists like \"the other man\" or \"the other woman\" to distract from it. I think it\'s obvious, but the MicHolly love story is going to be great. Kudos to the writers for making us wait this long. It would be awesome if Michael helps Jim to get Pam (\"don\'t ever give up), & Jim helps Michael get Holly by making him chill out a bit. I think if we look back on season finales for the office in the past, we\'ll remember that NBC usually makes us wait on a cliffhanger (remember the \"will they/won\'t they\" at the end of season 2?). This is not as fun of an ending like last year\'s ending when Jim asks Pam out on a date at the very end, but the wide open possibilities for great stuff I think are much greater.
-
I have so many (good) mixed feelings about this last episode. First and foremost, Steve Carrell outdid himself. Within the span of falling in love, finding out that Jan is pregnant, and deciding to support Jan through her pregnancy (at least through Lamaze), he showed such a convincing range of emotions. Bravo, Mr. Carrell! I\'m still bummed that Jim and Pam didn\'t get engaged, but I thought their non-proposal was written in a fairly decent way. I just hope we don\'t see a lame summer lapse, when we just happen to find out that Jim and Pam got engaged over the summer. I don\'t think I\'m alone when I say that I want to see the proposal! Mr. Andrew Bernard...so gut-wrenching to see him unknowingly steal Jim\'s thunder. I was about to cry for Dwight until... ...the final Dwangela moment! Awesome!!!!
-
I wonder if NBC (or anyone else) will ever release Michael\'s parody songs? He did a great job with tonight\'s song, and I\'d love to hear \"Beers in Heaven\" and \"Total Eclipse of the Fart.\" As I recall from reading Weird Al articles, legal consent from the original artist is not necessary, so they wouldn\'t be breaking any laws to just have Steve Carrell (or someone else) record the new song.
-
\"The real crime, I think, was the beard.\" I loved this episode! I knew that Jim proposing to Pam would be all too cliche, and something would get in the way. I cannot get the DWANGELA image out of my head!Being a DWANGELA fan, it made me very happy. But, I thought Angela was all religious, Andy just proposed to her, she agreed, and she was sleeping with Dwight 10 minutes later. Creed was yet again given the most random hilarious lines in this episode. \"quafff...\" Also, Kevin shows no argument that he is not mentally challenged :-D which is hilarious! Ryan getting arrested was awesome! I wish he got arrested for cocaine though, it would have been funnier. Wow, Michael stopped himself \"that\'s what she...\" \"a lot of places are like that.\" hahaha...

Um, hey spam. Great episode, terrible season finale. I kept waiting for the twist, the sudden happy surprise that should mark a final episode of the season, and instead it just gloomily petered out. Instead of the sudden move forward of Casino Night or The Job, our characters suddenly and inexplicably revert. Lame, Lame, lame. The angst felt unearned. Does anyone believe that a real life Pam would feel that way? She would have to be an idiot to doubt how he feels about her. Go ahead and doubt his maturity, his bravery, the extent to which he is a dick. But surely his love for her and commitment to her are beyond doubt. Facts.
-
To Rick: Jan was at least 6 months pregnant. I am currently 5 months pregnant myself and Jan\'s belly is bigger than mine. That was actually the flaw in the episode for me. Wasn\'t Jan drinking wine during \"Dinner Party\"? She would have known then that she was pregnant or possibly pregnant so it is doubtful that she would have been drinking. But it is so minor that it didn\'t zap a bit of my enjoyment of the epidsode. So glad to see all the positive comments on the blog and even though both Kevin & Matt are agreeing that they like the episode I think it\'ll be an awesome podcast. Oh, do I really have to go back to work now?
-
Okay since there\'s two kellys that tend to comment I\'ve decided to post forevermore on TWSS as kelly jo. My predicitions were almost all right. I predicted the following: 1.There would be a jam cliff hanger-Kinda true with the whole i just really thought he was going to propose tonight thing. 2.There would be a Dwangela cliffhanger-Yes! I just thought it wouldn\'t be Phylis unless this means we see more of her \"big\" personality I would have wished that it could of been Holly because she\'s the new HR rep which would mean that there could of been consquences somehow. Or Andy but that would have to cheesy. 3.I would have screamed at someone- Yup, I screamed You Bastard at Andy during the entire proposal. 4.A Jam engagment- No you got me on that one. I thought they would have Jim propose in the break room while Pam was crying. 5. Holly would begin a romance with someone I thought either Michael or Dwight- half right because but now we\'ll have Micholly story arc. 6. Jan would be dating Hunter- Nope 7. Ryan would go down- Yes I would love it if that they caught him doing coke while the police walked in. 8. Jim would gain his balls back from Ryan- Yeppers! loved those phone calls. I wanted to bring up one more thing in \"Survior Man\" do you think that he wanted get so much work done so that when he knew Pam was ready for marriage they would have money for it.
-
Holly is the most interesting character I\'ve seen in a while. Don\'t like Andy but felt a bit sorry for him. Angela has continued dating him for a while and someone like him is going to eventually propose. Besides, Michael falls in love every other week. I think her \"okay\" (not to mention cheating on her fiance) takes her to a new level as a jerk. Especially since she doesn\'t even like Andy. Loved Toby\'s yelling for a camera. Reminded me of \"My kingdom for a horse!\". I\'m in Canada on business until Thursday. I missed the first 15 minutes and am going wild. Apparently I can\'t get NBC internet videos here in Canada. Can\'t wait to get home to my DVR and to also see any deleted scenes.
-
Great episode! Lot\'s of funny scenes and lines \"you cheated on me? when i specifically asked you not to?\" \"mr. andrew bernard... it\'s got a nice ring to it.\" The whole \"simple\" Kevin thing was hilarious! I feel so bad for Michael, he\'s gotta get away from Jan, she looked about 4-5 months pregnant.
-
I still hold to my claim that this was a great episode...but of course the Pam/Jim disappointment was a downer. It was a bit unnatural to think that Pam will be that bummed out by not getting a proposal. Dwight was subtly the winner though. Other than Jim\'s Hilarious prank for the cold open, Dwight was successful with hazing her & with getting the girl at the end (he\'s ultimately the only one who got the girl. Kevin & Andy thought they were scoring, but apparently not! Toby was still trying & failing, & Jim & Michael lost out on great opportunities (although it wasn\'t Jim\'s fault). I have to give the writers credit for making me passionately interested in the course of the show. I would have cheered for the proposal, but now I am excited to see when/how it will happen. I just hope they don\'t screw it up by driving these 2 apart. I am so psyched that Michael has a love interest & hope it continues next year. Michael needs to grow, & Holly is perfect for him. I am excited to see that one dragged out. It really puts the emphasis back in Michael\'s life & not just an obsession with PB & J. I love Pam/Jim, but it\'s always good to see Michael not being a freak & an idiot. His growth is more interesting than him saying ridiculous things & being a moron. Can I coin the term \"McHolly\" or Molly for Michael/Holly? Awesome episode, & probably among the funniest & best ever.
-
I was pretty disapointed with this episode at first. I\'m starting to warm up to it now but it\'s still far from the likes of the job and casino night as far as finales go. I was hoping for a little more with that scene at the end. I thought it was all leading up to something with pam and jim because of pam sorta crying when she was with toby. The dwight angela sex thing would have been funny if it wasn\'t suposed to be the big shocker at the end of the episode. It didn\'t do much for me. Things I liked: Phyllis one woman party planning, Creed remembering his job title, Michael\'s song and dance, cold open, and the michael-holly thing (Although I thought it was a bit weird that Michael called Jan at the end. Will they ever just let Jan leave?)
-
Absolutely LOVED it! In pacing, in tone and in character-driven humor, it felt like a great S2 episode. The Phyllis/Angela bitchfest was hilarious (although any storyline with the PPP is always great); the \"slow Kevin\" plot had me on the floor; Ryan\'s arrest was a shocker, and I was so happy to see Michael finally find his perfect woman (although Jan needs to die NOW). The only thing that annoys me is all the JAM-fan bitching all over the interwebs. Yes, I\'m sorry that Jim was proposal-blocked by Andy and didn\'t have the perfect gooey way to ask Pam to marry him. But frankly, how could the viewers not see how much he deeply loves Pam? We saw him realize that all their important moments happened in the office, then reach into his wallet and pay for an expensive fireworks display that would, as he said early, \"kick [Beesly\'s] ass.\" After all that, it\'s hardly surprising that he wouldn\'t go through with it after Andy beat him to the punch. Would he really want Pam\'s proposal to be a \"me too\" event? Finally, LOVED Dwangela\'s bizarro \"Casino Night\" moment of their own...I wonder if Phyllis will blackmail them next season?
-
Wow! I\'ll do try to emulate Michael Scott tonight and try to contain the massive love I\'m sporting for this episode. A+ Best episode of the season by far. Too many twists and revelations!?! No way! It was perfect for a season finale. It\'s too GD bad the strike didn\'t let the writers tease some of these strands out for a full season.
-
two thumbs up here! The finale opened up a lot of new story lines for next year, which is good because Job Fair made it seem like this season might fizzle at the end. And unlike after the Job I am not impatiently waiting for what will happen over the summer. Sure Pam looked upset when she didn\'t get asked, but I don\'t think they will be breaking up over it. She waited so long for Roy one would think she could wait a little longer for Jim. This was the first season I was actually starting to like Andy. He seemed to really have a place, instead of just being a place holder & I already miss Flenderson. When Meredith was on one of her late night interviews they showed a clip with her and dwight with dwight telling her to spy on the new HR rep. It must have been a deleted scene because they did not air it. I hope they post it on the website I thought it was very funny.
-
I loved this episode. Especially when NBC sprinkled in some Cool-Aid-Kevin in their promo. So many possibilities for next season! Poor Michael! ~ He finally met someone who \"almost gets\" him and his tendency to behave oddly and Holly seem to really like Michael...but \"Man\" (aka the Michael and Jan relationship) reared it\'s ugly head. Also, doesn\'t Holly kind of look like Jan? Except nicer? I liked Jan in this episode (though her going to the sperm bank while she was still dating Michael seems odd). Jan looked softer and calmer compared to \"Dinner Party.\" That picture of her in red with the blue-ish tinge face is still ingrained in my mind...isn\'t it in Michaels? As for Andy, it looks like he\'ll be leaving Scranton. I guess Angela is not the pure Christian that she tries to be anymore. Ah Jam - I have my fingers crossed for you two lovebirds. Michelle & Virginia -- I had the same reaction as you two. I thought Angela was going to murder Phyllis when she was stepping out of the elevator. And I thought the muffled sounds was Dwight crying over Angela\'s engagement.
-
I don\'t know if I\'d say this topped Casino Night, but its definitely their 2nd best finale. Everything was so right with this episode, especially keeping them on the DM lot. So I guess Andy leaves during the Christmas episode, in time for the post-Super Bowl premiere, eh? I should\'ve bet Kevin on the engagement not happening. Oh man, and how about the sympathetic Michael storyline? I haven\'t cared this much for his character since Take Your Daughter To Work Day. If Carell doesn\'t submit this for the Emmy, he\'s got no chance. How about Amy Ryan? After Career Day, I was expecting to absolutely hate watching what could happen between her & Michael. But go figure, she brought the best out of Michael, even in his choice to support Jan. Not completely convinced about the sperm bank though. I\'m still holding out for the chance that the baby belongs to her former assistant.
-
I did not know that was Amy Ryan. Wow, you learn something new everyday. I\'m glad that Ryan was removed from corporate not because of his drugs but because of something more business related. Sad but happy at the same time that Pam and Jim are not yet engaged. I\'m sad that I won\'t get to turn on my TV next Thursday and predict again how Jim is going to propose. I really want to see this \"ass-kicking\" proposal, not just a ring on Pam\'s finger when season five begins.
-
Ok. I really loved this episode and agree with many that this was the best one this season. I think it\'s because it was almost the first one to deal with a subject that is common to office life, and that is employee turnover. Honestly, this show has had unrealistic employee longevity. I\'m not a big fan of the spinoff idea, but here\'s a scenario that I can imagine. Because of Ryan\'s arrest, there\'s a new opening at corporate. Somehow Andy is involved in that, but I don\'t think to fill Ryan\'s position at corporate, i think he\'ll fill the Regional Manager position at another branch where that manager has been promoted into Ryan\'s position. I love the Holly character! how sad that now that Michael has found his soul mate, that he\'s going to be so distracted in his ADHD sort of way by Jan\'s baby... by the way, i said it when I was watching it and I believe it now—like someone here said earlier, I believe that the baby is Hunter\'s and I believe that Hunter\'s song from the Dinner Party is about Jan. I thought the Holly/Kevin deal was really funny too. I wonder how long she\'ll go on believing that he\'s handicapped before he tries to hit on her. All in all, I think this episode shows that The Office still has a lot of life left in it.
-
WOW, I am officially depressed as hell! As if half of the office getting their emotions crushed one way or another wasn\'t bad enough, MICHAEL SCREWED UP BIG TIME, man! Anyways, it was an EXCELLENT episode. Great comedy, great drama, awesome (and hot) new character... ..by the way, guys, I left a voice comment mentioning the hotness of Holly...but I don\'t think I said my name :( Anyways, keep up the good work, dudes!

awesome episode. m\'thoughts: 1.) i will still miss my toby. 2.) i thought ryan was busted cuz of drugs. i wonder if he\'ll still be a character next season. 3.) amy ryan is WICKED AWESOME and i hope she will be a regular cuz she is such a breath of fresh air (not that the show is crappy but it\'s good they\'re switching it up). 4.) i thought pam was gonna freak out at jim\'s proposal and say no. (whew!) it\'s not going to make sense if they\'re not already engaged by the season 5 premiere, i can\'t see jim waiting that much longer to propose and i\'m sure he\'d find a better way of doing it than at an office party. i love pb&j and hope the writers don\'t try to sabotage them just to shake things up, that would be lame. e.) i thought the end was great but i seriously thought that noise was toby masturbating to the picture of him and pam. which makes no sense now since he was already out of the building. 12.) i thought jim was going to get fired for leaving ryan that voice message. i wonder if jim is going to get ryan\'s job now. last.) michael must be \"growing up\" if he stopped himself from saying \"twss\". still not mature enough to not get a boner from a girl touching him. best moment.
-
Nice. No matter what I thought of the rest of the episode, the tag made it all worth it, even if I did think that Dwight\'s two second TH reacting to the proposal was brilliant. (Though did anyone else think that Phyllis, at the height of her triumph, was about to get murdered? Just me?) It was pretty clear that the JAM proposal would come to nothing once Jim fessed up to the camera, and it became even clearer once Pam seemed to catch on. I still liked the build-up though, especially Jim\'s little moment where he realized how fitting it would be to propose in the office. Maybe Jan will be sane, now? Maybe? I am actually very grateful that it is not Michael\'s kid. No way is he, or the world, prepared to handle biological offspring of Michael Scott. No. And as for Jan\'s sort-of-not-really cheating on Michael, it\'s obviously horrible, but I have lost all sense of a moral gauge when it comes to Ms. Levinson. Amy Ryan bugged me. I\'m not sure why, but she did. The whole Kevin scenario was brilliance, though they may have taken it too far. It was best at the beginning, when Kevin was being so completely himself. That was just gold. All in all, solid finale. I was grateful the cliffhanger wasn\'t too intense-- more uncertain than anything else. I think it will improve more on future viewings, and that is good enough for me.
-
Before Phyllis opened the door on Dwangela, I thought the sound was Dwight crying like Chewbacca. Wasn\\\'t Jan a guest star for the first season? Holly may be around for awhile, if only as a \\\"guest.\\\" I\\\'d really like to see Holly a lot, she and Michael were so cute. I\\\'m sad for Pam, and frustrated. I\\\'m sure it\\\'ll work out though.
-
Phenomenal episode. - I was rooting for the PB & J engagement, and I\'m legitimately annoyed that there\'ll be another season of this relationship waffling. With Micholly, there will be enough unresolved sexual tension that Jim and Pam can be a legit couple. - The Kevin subplot. Amazing. - I love Holly. Michael Scott\'s perfect girl? Next season should be phenomenal for this. It\'ll be nice to humanize Michael more. - I feel bad for Andy, but this is exactly the thing that will motivate his spinoff-ery. Angela is a BITCH! - Ryan goes down for fraud. I like it. - The cold open was great! Jim is cool again!
-
Ach. One more thing. I liked how, with Jim trying to instruct Michael on how to execute the perfect three year office courtship, the episode had Michael and Holly -- more Holly -- giving those old fashioned angsty looks at each other. That Holly used the key phrase \"it was a good day\", I just wonder if I\'m reading too much into that.
-
I just hope Holly becomes a permanent addition...and I hope that the Jan thing goes NOWHERE. It just could be a total disaster. Again, I like to see Michael grow, even if he\'s still a social idiot from time to time. If he\'s always a bumbling fool who never learns (like David Brent was right up till the end of the UK Office), it really is frustrating. If he grows up & develops, like we\'ve seen Pam, Jim & Dwight do, it is more satisfying. So many unresolved plot lines, but bravo to the writers for masterfully wrapping up a possibly disastrous season due to the writers strike by ending it on a note that puts a whole new direction on the show & leaving us begging for more.
-
Strangely, one of my favorite moments was when Michael told Holly \"Don\'t move a muscle\" and she froze. That\'s the exact sort of playfulness that would just kill a Michael Scott. Except it comes from a grown-up who hasn\'t forgotten how to play rather than a kid who\'s still very confused to be a grown-up. I *really* liked this episode. This was one of the best one hours they\'ve done. Kelly rising above the divider like a billy goat at its bridge. Finding out about Ryan via YouTube footage was a bit too precious, but the former CEO of a shithole company I once worked for became infamous via an online story by the NY Post. That moment felt a lot like that. The Yoda stuff which was initially stupid, but completely redeemed by Michael acknowledging his confusion and her deciding to play along. I loved Michael in this episode. Even his jerk moments had that fun energy rather than just jerkiness for jerkiness sake. And, while the Jan stuff...just gets the \"...\" because it\'s Jan, I can totally see Michael as the type who would just take on a kid because he so much wants the having kids experience. Oh, and I honestly thought Jim\'s message to Ryan was just venting into an undialed phone. Finally, ol\' PB&J. Three month schooling. Why, that\'s almost exactly the same as the season break! We had the \"Happy Pam and Jim\" season; now we\'ll probably get the angsty \"We might be growing apart\" Pam and Jim next year. She\'s going to have all citified, fancy art friends. Plus, Scranton is going to seem small. Oh, and where is she going to live? Who\'s paying for it? Part of the loan? Housing provided by the school (um..no)? Jim\'s wallet? Ok, and double (I guess triple, by now) finally, once the Andy proposal happened, I knew the ending. Why? Because I am a super genius, but that\'s not important now. However, Dwight\'s, \"Well. It\'s my own fault.\" talking head was *perfect*.

Thoughts while watching (finally on EST): 1. Hilarious cold open. Yay for the return of Dwight pranks. 2. Could more info come out of Ryan\'s illegal activities (ie, drug bust)? 3. Could Jan\'s lovechild potentially be the product of Hunter and she\'s just fibbing about the sperm bank? 4. Costa Rica and PA are on the same time zone. 5. Soooo glad that predictable PB and J engagement didn\'t go down. Woo hoo! 6. Excellent chair references. Is HR the replacement (figurative) chairmodel? 7. Nice wrap up to a short season...\"Dwangela\" rules.

I am so torn, I\'ve never gone through such an array of emotions over the course of an episode. Lots of sadness for the change in the show, won\'t be the same next year as the show we all know and love. I will miss Flenderson, and have no idea where the Jam plot is going. What a finale!
-
Going in, I was wondering how they could top last years powerhouse of a finale. But 30 seconds ago, my jaw dropped at the image of Dwangela going hardcore on her desk. The perfect capper to Michael\'s elation to Toby leaving, as well as being torn between his soul mate and his misplaced responsibility towards Jan, the actual downfall of Ryan, the surprise proposal from Andy (oh you poor bastard) and the worst bit of timing on Jim\'s part. At least he has the premiere as a last chance. This and \"Money\' were the best one hours of the season.

GREAT EPISODE!!!! Great love interest for Michael, great plot elements, great joke on Dwight, great Michael moments all around, great Jim taking charge & putting Ryan in his place.....GREAT GREAT GREAT!! After a few stinkers (except for \"Chair model\"), this finale ruled!

I\'m so depressed that the season is already over! I can see some interesting dynamics with having a female HR rep. I am sad Toby\'s gone, though, I\'m totally going to miss him. I have thought (since I heard about the spin off, really) that the writers might write themselves off the show, though. I wonder if Kelly is going to leave the office next. . . I\'m super sad about Jim not proposing, but glad too. I will Über peeved if they do it over the summer, though. However, that will not compare to my anger should someone else come along to try to split up Pam and Jim over the summer. Don\'t do it NBC! (clever that they made it the three months that the show will be off for the summer, eh?)

Finale Predictions: 1> Ryan gets fired for starting a fire in a hot pot. 2> Jan gets her life together and reclaims her job at DM corporate. 3> Toward the end of the episode, Jim is offered and accepts a major job at DM corporate. 4> With his professional future secured, Jim returns from corporate with intentions of proposing to Pam and sharing his good news. However... 5> Pam surprises Jim with her news: an entry-level design job in Philly. The proposal is delayed and the relationship is in pieces until next season (giving time for the writers to work their way out of the corner). 6> Dwight marries Angela. 7> Andy is devastated and resigns (his is the spinoff show).

I hope someone dies! That\'s right, what a surprise that would be. If a beloved Office character took a dirt nap on the finale, we would flip out and remember the finale forever and everyone would be talking about it tomorrow. There seems to be a ferris wheel. Perhaps an amusement park accident! Goodbye Toby....forever.

OMG you guys, my head IS going to explode. I can’t even think about it anymore or I’m never going to get through the day. As much as I can’t wait, I’m also wanting to prolong the suspense since after tonight we have many long months ahead until the new season. And I have a feeling that it won’t be an easy wait after the plot twists of this evening are revealed. Oh, and we’re having a Margarita finale party!

On first watching it, I was really torn about the episode. There was a lot I liked and I was also kind of disappointed by things. On second watch, I\'m definitely falling in love with this episode. The beginning JAM stuff I absolutely love, I\'m so happy to see the two of them, well, happy. I\'m really glad Jim didn\'t propose, but it was a lot of fun watching him get all excited about it. The MicHolly storyline gives me the giggles like early JAM stuff did. I\'m really excited to see where that storyline is going to go in S5, as Holly is awesome and a great match for Michael. We\'ve been waiting for 4 seasons for her, HOORAY! The Jan stuff is disappointing. I\'d like to think that the baby is Hunter\'s, but I\'m sure they are just going to have it be a sperm bank baby. However, I\'m so over Jan. Leave Happy Michael be! I saw the Andygela proposal coming... and wow. Awkward. I totally feel for Pam\'s letdown though. Sure, she doesn\'t want to be a \'me too\' fiancee, but she\'s obviously looking forward to a future with Jim. She totally gets WHY he didn\'t propose, she\'s just disappointed, who wouldn\'t be? The Dwangela stuff was truly amazing. Dwight\'s talking head, to the tag at the end. AWESOME. I also totally felt for Angela throughout the episode... sometimes you try your hardest, and someone will come along and take it all away with a \'cool\' thing. (SOMY for the past month). About the watch thing: Costa Rica is only one time zone behind Scranton... So Michael probably didn\'t think the party would go as late as it did, I\'d buy that he set it for, say 7pm, and it went off at 8pm. I think it was a great send off, and I LOVE that they decided to do something other than a huge JAM finale. I\'m already excited for season 5!

Good episode, but far from the best ever. The first 50 minutes? Fantastic. Great stuff, tons of laugh out loud moments. The last 10 minutes? What the fuck was that? Really, really horrible stuff. Just awful. - the Andy proposal interrupting Jim. Since when is this Friends? At Jim and Pam\'s wedding, is Jim going to say \"I Jim, take thee Karen...\" Really, really fucking stupid. Lazy writing. - following up Pam\'s crying with Dwight and Angela having desk sex. Ummm... are the writers fucking idiots? That would have been a great tag to follow some sweeping romantic gesture, or some other dramatic moment to add laughs (like say... a proposal). It\'s hard to laugh when it feels like you got punched in the griefbone. - Jan... just go the fuck away. This character has been utterly destroyed since the middle of season 3, and her appearance at the grocery store was unnecessary and uninteresting. GO. AWAY. The first 50 minutes were great and this would have been the greatest Office episode ever with just a few changes. As it is, the last 10 minutes are among the most contrived and stupid in The Office\'s brief history.

I loved all the scenes with Kevin! I felt both sorry for him because Dwight\'s joke was so mean, and yet it all just made me like him more because of his child-like charm. And also because I too have pulled out a handful of change and found a button mixed in with it. Kool-Aid Man ain\'t got nothin\' on Kevin!

Not much time to post this AM but I have to say how much I loved this episode top to bottom. Wow, what an awesome way to end a season with a little bit of everything that I love about The Office. Havne\'t read the other comments, but Thursday Karen LOVED it. Can\'t wait to see what happens in the fall.
