I knew it would happen sooner or later-- we have a "copycat."
I'm not going to dignify it with any links or references, but another "The Office" related podcast has reared its head on iTunes. Perhaps not surprisingly, it is structured very similarly to this one, even starting off with a "#0.5" episode, and using the Dwight "scuttlebutt" sound clip. Highly annoying. EDIT: On further reflection (and after drinking a few beers), I've calmed down a bit. There's room in the world for more than one show, I guess. Ian and I will continue to do the best job we can, and hope that what we have to offer is valuable to fans of "The Office."

so are we officialy calling the other pod cast \"the other podcast\" now?. like lord vordemor in harry potter (more harry potter mentions lol)......anyway I just listened to part of it.....and it just doesn\'t flow as well as yours. It seems like its being read from a script or something. And yours has the great backround music during clips. Overall twss is still the best office podcast

Considering that Matt would fly to New York and flick me if I didn\'t listen to the show, I have to say I like this one a lot better! Okay, in all seriousness, I listened to an episode of the all girl one, and I didn\'t like it. It felt like a group of girls getting together and having a pajama party about The Office, which is not my thing. Plus their audio sounds like it\'s pieced together from different recordings on their own computers, which sounds incredibly unfinished. So yes, I choose That\'s What She Said. Plus, gotta stick up for a fellow Ian. Represent!

As a podcaster myself I understand how this can be initially disappointing. But, as others have noted, I think there\'s room for two shows, especially considering how different they are. Two guys vs. Three gals. The chemistry is really a lot different. And, these gals have a long way to go (though, it isn\'t bad for a first podcast). TWSS is much better produced, using music for the show segments/bumpers and the flow is better with two hosts rather than three, and Matt and Ian\'s voice are different enough that you can tell the difference between them (all of those girls sound alike). The audio quality of their show is generally better, however. Regarding iTunes, the ranking is based on a formula based on **new subscribers**, not total audience size. Since this is a show, **all** of their subscribers are new. The iTunes ranking also does not account for people who are subscribed in other podcatching applications or those who listen directly from the websites. TWSS has gotten pretty good feature placement on iTunes so I wouldn\'t complain about that (much better than my own Frat Pack Tribute podcast, for example...). Regarding the name, you could change your iTunes show title to be \"The Office: That\'s What She Said\", though the current \"That\'s What She Said -- The Office\" probably accomplishes the same thing. So, I guess I would say I can understand your gripes (esp. given the history of the creation of the podcast) but there\'s not much you can do about it. Wars are not the answer, though friendly banter/ribbing is probably okay (their take on Ryan/Kelly seems WAAAY off in my mind).

Geez, this thing should have an edit function -- or I should learn to proof read. The point I was TRYING to make with my Harry Potter nonsense was that two Office podcasts might not be a bad thing. You\'ll each find a niche and hey, I found the second podcast because of the first. Sheesh. No more late night posts for me! (yeah right.)

I should probably just stay out of this and stick to cracking jokes from the back of the class, but I\\\'m a bit troubled by the \\\"us vs. them\\\" sentiment that seems to be creeping into this thread. Matt kind of beat me to it already, but I think there\\\'s more than enough room for different voices of appreciation for \\\"The Office,\\\" and more podcasts in the mix that reflect different aspects of this great fanbase just adds to the discussion. Aren\\\'t we really all just fans of the same thing? The support is wonderful (and very much appreciated), but I don\\\'t think there\\\'s any need to feel any sort of competition - especially if it means knocking something else down to build our show up. Accusations that, frankly, are rather serious and, at this point, feel a bit unwarranted make me uncomfortable and leads to ill feelings that just aren\\\'t necessary. Matt and I will probably disagree on this (and maybe should discuss it privately), but it really doesn\\\'t bother me if another podcast happens to draw more listeners or downloads - especially if it\\\'s due to factors that are beyond our control. Ultimately, I\\\'m doing this because Matt\\\'s a friend of mine, I enjoy podcasting, I enjoy \\\"The Office,\\\" and I\\\'ve come to love the dialogue we share with listeners. Let\\\'s just have a Coke and enjoy \\\"Benihana Christmas\\\" tonight, man.

eww...what a bunch of ...dumb...ignorant people! well, you guys still rock the house in my book if that means anything. it was probably inevitable that more office podcasts would come along. well, you guys are the originals and nothing is ever better than the original. that would be like there being a british sitcom about an office being copied by an american sitcom about...oh...

O.k., I have to fess up. I\'m in the Live Journal The Office community and a while ago the girl who put together this other podcast sent out a call for co-hosts, saying she couldn\'t find an Office podcast so she was going to start her own. Anyway, MANY people \"stood up\" for you and posted links to TWSS, but apparently, the gal decided to do it anyway because there it is. Anyway, I just thought I should mention that I don\'t think she meant to be malicious. I also should mention that, (geek that I am) I am currently subscribed to two different Harry Potter podcasts, (actually, they often have joint podcasts.) and I can assure you each of them has a place in the Harry Potter fandom. It\'s annoying, buy you guys are awesome. I love that after each \'cast, I blather on endlessly and think about things from each episode differently than I\'d originally thought. So thanks!

Nobody could replace you guys! I think there\'s probably room for another show, but I hope they don\'t end up ripping you guys off. I mean, some overlap is inevitable, but they\'ll have to find their own voice. Your show is so well produced - you don\'t have a thing to worry about!
-
I finally listened to a little bit of it. I don\'t want to knock them, but, you guys are just better. I\'m sure they will get somewhat better with time, but you\'ve got a head start in more ways than one. I wouldn\'t worry about it. Don\'t you love when someone says that? It\'s right up there with \"just relax.\"

I\'m not a podcast expert, but I am an expert on what\'s good and interesting. Your podcast is really good and really interesting. That is always a rarity. When I told my husband, he said imitation is the highest form of flattery. Maybe . . . . but I can understand how you feel. You\'ve worked hundreds of hours on this. But everything will shake out in the end.
