I think the show\'s success prompted NBC to create an American version, which premiered on 24 March 2005. Other than the Pilot episode, called \"alcohol rehab\" the scripts for the US version are original, and not adaptations from the UK, although some scenes, general story ideas, and characters are based on the original.

\"As far as a teenage girl hooking up with a \'considerably older\' guy, how much older are we talking? A 16 or 17 year old dating a 23 year old guy would be one thing. But what if Andy\'s, like, 33-34?\" Well, 23 would barely be scandalous. 33 or 34 (which Andy clearly is, at least) is unhealthy, definitely icky and no normal parent would want their teenage daughter going around with some creep twice her age. I\'m just saying it\'s not exactly unheard of and, in the minds of many lost and confused girls, it\'s no big deal. And, obviously, they weren\'t showing any kind of serious relationship between Andy and this girl. They made it clear that he barely knew her. I mean, it wasn\'t a Lifetime movie. It\'s a comedy. BUT, I do agree that it did not work well; it was an off note.

I am almost done with the podcast and so far it\'s great as usual. I had this thought while you were discussing modern society and the fact that in reality the whole obscene watermark wouldn\'t just \"blow over\" as Pam (and indeed everyone else) seems to think. You said that Michael for once took the right action and did exactly what he should have done. I just love irony that when something happening is a big deal to everyone else, Michael inevitably does everything wrong, and now finally he\'s getting it right, and nobody cares. Poor Michael. No wonder he\'s so screwed up. P.S. I\'m really sad I missed the chat again on Thursday. My work load has been insane and doesn\'t look to be letting up until the beginning of June at least. It kills me to think I probably wont be able to chat with you guys after the finale! *sniff*

Oh yeah, and also, back when Ian first posted the link to the cold open, I mentioned that it reminded me a lot of Drug Testing. It\\\'s because the episode revolves (in some ways) around Jim doing impressions of his co-workers and Pam mentions that he\\\'s really good at it. I thought it was a great throw back to that episode and possibly one of my favorite cold opens this season.

We should definitely post our favorite shows here. I\'ve been thinking about ever since we got that e-mail. Nomi, I\'m hoping a woman I once dated didn\'t hear that improv comment, as she\'s a performer (and a good one). I don\'t think I\'m in any danger, but I\'d feel kind of bad. As far as a teenage girl hooking up with a \"considerably older\" guy, how much older are we talking? A 16 or 17 year old dating a 23 year old guy would be one thing. But what if Andy\'s, like, 33-34?

And I\\\'m not sure why, but this occurred to me yesterday while driving around: If \\\'The Office\\\' went to hour-long episodes, would that mean our podcasts would run two (or two-and-a-half) hours? I mean, if we\\\'re already twice as long as the actual episode...

Another great show. What a great summary of the various plotlines. Also, I found it really hard to distinguish between Jim and Dwight in the cold open while listening only to the audio. Kukos to Krasinski! Does anyone know if there is a list of all the instances of \"that\'s what she said\" in the varuious episodes (or, at least, an episode list)?? I\'d like to put together a montage that Matt mentioned a while back and it would be easier if I didn\'t have to rewatch every minute of every episode.

Hey, where\'s the controversy my post was supposed to stir up? That\'s the way to cause controversy, right -- announce that you\'re stirring up controversy? I like the \"last word\" segments too. Oh, and Ian, I\'m with you about watching improv. I can barely stand it. I just feel anxious the whole time. My sister-in-law, whom I adore, does it with a group that performs. It\'s a different approach from what they\'re doing on that show -- they don\'t \"try\" to make it funny; it\'s supposed to be more organic. But whenever I\'ve gone to shows I just sit there tense and uncomfortable most of the time.

Hey, I got quoted. Which, of course, makes this a very good podcast cast. Episode. OK. I\'ve got to confess: I was once a teenage girl. I know I\'m not from the midwest like you clean cut boys are, but I don\'t think it\'s THAT unusual for a later teenage girl too hook up with a considerably older guy. I\'m figuring that girl was at least 16, maybe 17. I\'m not saying it\'s not a little pathetic and possibly gross, but she DID lead Andy to think she was a little older. I guess we were supposed to think it was obvious that she was a kid. But in real life it can sometimes be hard to tell if a girl is 16 or 20. Right?

This podcast is bananas B-A-N-A-N-A-S. Loved the episode. Had all my favourite things rolled into one: Creed, Jim pranks, Kevin hilarity (Australian accent.) The only thing it was missing was Flenderson. They should have brought him into the whole scandal. he is HR, afterall. Good episode of the Office and TWSS. They go together like milk and...cookies.

Re: why Michael sent Andy with Jim when he knows what a bad salesperson he is -- maybe he thought Jim would keep him out of trouble? I thought the \"money beets\" thing was funny too, but I think they\'ve gone to the \"Phyllis is ugly/matronly/etc\" well a few too many times... I\'m a little surprised at how put off people are by the Andy-has-an-underage-girlfriend plotline. I know the issue of child molestation is a serious one, but I think \"pedophilia\" is a strong term to use in this case. Yes, the girl looks like a teenager, but Andy is an idiot, and that is the joke. The show is not making fun of the underage girl being victimized in some way -- it\'s making fun of Andy being too stupid to figure out a girl who works as a \"part-time yogurt chef\" at the mall is probably still in high school. It\'s similar to what they did in \"Benihana Christmas\" -- they weren\'t making fun of two Asian girls looking alike, but Michael for being so clueless as to not be able to tell this girl he was referring to as his girlfriend apart from her friend. It\'s the difference between making a prejudiced joke and making fun of prejudice. You\'re walking a fine line, but I think they stay on this side of the \"offensive\" line, whether or not you think the situation is funny.

So...is this the season where we find out that Jim Halpert is really on Earth 2? Would that make Karen the Huntress and Pam Beesley Power Girl? And, will this suddenly erupt in a battle where Gareth Keenan, Dwight Scrhute, Joël Liotard, and Berthold \"Ernie\" Heisterkamp have to battle it out via Dungeons and Dragons to claim the #2 spot in an office run by the amalgamated and slightly strange creature office manager only known as Michael Gervais Scott? Are we about to see a Crisis on the Infinite Offices? Gasp. I\'m sorry. When you guys show off your comic fanboy geek cred, I have to show off mine. It is part of the code. You guys have a great podcast. Keep up the good work! - Gary
