Episode # 50 of THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID finds Matt and Kevin strangely attracted to both Olivia Newton John and Aristotle. Let's get ethical... ethical... I wanna get ethical... let's get into eth-i-cal. Holly's running a business ethics seminar in the conference room, and Michael volunteers to show her the ropes (two words- Robin Shyamalan). Immunity is offered, scandal erupts, Flax is flummoxed, and I'll never see The Outback Steakhouse in the same way ever, ever again. Incidental music provided by the Podshow Podsafe Music Network. Acsenray, that was my interpretation too. Though I have to say that the OT interview with Ryan Koh where he explains his reasoning for using Hammermill (\'sounds sexy and people have heard of it\') was a little silly. There are a few ways they could have explained that away if they really wanted to - I think I\'m more annoyed by the lame explanation. Great podcast, guys!

Hey, love your podcast, love how long it is (thats what she said!). It takes me exactly one week driving to and from work to listen the the whole thing. And then I\'m ready for the next one! Just had a comment about Meredith\'s Hammermill affair. I took it to mean that she is purchasing office supplies, ie pens, paperclips, etc from Hammermill to stock the office at a discount, not scoring this huge discount for all the supplies that Dunder Mifflin sells on BEHALF of Hammermill. Hope that makes sense. Keep up the awesome work!

I\'m going to stop posting as \'b\' because somebody else is enjoying using it a bit too much. On the what happens to Ryan when Pam returns conundrum -- I always thought that Pam was going to school so that she wouldn\'t have to be a receptionist anymore. Can\'t remember the episode, but I remember Jan telling Pam that Dunder Mifflin would pay for her to go to school. Seems to me the company would find a new position for Pam when she gets back from school, leaving the phones for Ryan 2.0 to answer.

On the Hammermill controversy. In \"The Convention,\" Michael says that Dunder-Mifflin is now a distributor of Hammermill products, which previously had an exclusive distribution arrangement with Staples. In \"Business Ethics,\" Meredith says she\'s getting a discount \"on our office supplies\" from the Hammermill representative. My interpretation is that Meredith is talking about buying office supplies from Hammermill for use by Dunder-Mifflin employees in the Scranton branch. She\'s not talking about Dunder-Mifflin distribution of Hammermill products.

Dudes, I am blushing over here with the shoutout over Kevin\'s man-love! Thanks...you made my evening! And I just re-watched that scene the other day...my heart flip-flopped just where yours probably did, Kevin. I still think Matt can take care of himself, and I appreciate brevity and clarity as much as the next listener. That said, I rarely want to skip over anything Matt & Kevin say because they actually bring a fair amount of insight to the table. And there are people who re-download the episodes to play during summer or last year\'s strike just to have something to listen to (I don\'t know any of those people though, and they certainly do not live in my house. At all.). With that in mind, the audio clips make sense. Gazzoo makes an excellent point, though. That flip-flop might make sense. All together, everyone...that\'s what she said!

At the risk of sounding cliché, I will agree with everyone else who said that the length of the episode is perfect. Lara, thanks for the update about Jenna. I was curious too. I am greatly looking forward to your insight on this weeks episode since it centers around a traditionally female event: a baby shower. Ha ha. I can\'t wait! (One more day!)

Matt, I love the audio clips in the podcast. It is like listening to the best parts of the show in my own private auditorium, and freaking out strangers when I laugh out loud in public listening to my IPod. I know I always notice the mundane, bizarre things in every episode...but was it strange that Holly and/or Michael were drinking wine at what Holly may have perceived to be a \"business lunch?\" It is a big HR stretch to drink while working, though I guess Meredith\'s habits were the topic of the discussion :).

Ah, now I get it, thanks for clearing that up. As for the length of the podcast, count my vote for not changing a damn thing. I do wish Matt would impersonate Michael J. Fox during every podcast opening rather than just the retro episodes, just because it\'s so hilariously off-key, it\'s just too bad the back to the future theme doesn\'t fit with new episodes. As we say in NorCal, Mr. Hogg, don\'t hate the player, hate the game. Keep up the good work, fellas.

Sure I can just listen to half the podcast and switch off (or just fast forward through parts of it like I do now), but I think the whole enterprise would be better leaner and tighter, more disciplined. Do you really need to edit in most of the dialog from the show? The show we just watched on TV? Do you think we\'ve forgotten the whole episode we just watched? Just my opinion. I criticize because I care.

Matt and Kevin, Good episode... I like the podcast the way it is. Tweaks now and then are nice and it\'s yours so do whatever you would like with it. I do like the segment breaks and separate plot lines don\'t change a thing. 90 minutes is fine for serious office fans that can\'t get enough anyways. A comprehensive breakdown enhances appreciation of all of the elements that go into the office from writing, set, actors etc. It\'s a OP-Podcast not a democracy the downloads and listeners are obviously supporting it... Deleted Scene 2 was incredible. It’s nice to see Kevin come back like that. But is that really in character? My impression is that Kev would not get revenge like that and be so active. He’s usually take opportunities as they come. Then again, he really worked his stuff during the webisodes, so maybe we’re just seeing a new side of Kevin, Kevin Malone, 007. When is he going to get to BLEEP a really hot babe? Even fatties get love sometimes. I vote for an afair with Kelly!

Dork Knight -- I love your name. Ha ha! Thanks for the podcast, guys. I listened to it while sewing last night and it was better than any movie I could have put in! I agree with your assessment of Dwight. Obviously it works for the show, and I\'m glad they\'re taking it in that direction. And I agree with Kevin (I think said it) that the pranks are just funnier when they are about everyday things: Stapler in Jell-O, Stuff in the vending machine, entire desk in mens room, etc., as opposed to turning into a vampire. (Though I must admit to loving Faxes from the Future!) When it\'s something more realistic like that I feel like we, as an audience, can relate to it better -- even fantasize doing it to that annoying co-worker -- and it makes it just that much more funny. I must say that I too REALLY missed Pam. Even if all she would have done is be the person Jim had that HYSTERICAL Battlestar Gallactica conversation with instead of Andy. I agree with Kevin that this better be the only episode in which we see her so little. I have a feeling they\'re doing so many (??? I\'ve heard rumors) episodes sans Pam to keep the momentum of their relationship going and to keep from falling into the pit that some other shows fall into, namely the main love interest feeling stale. I personally don\'t think Jim/Pam will ever be stale, but maybe the writers disagree with me. My favorite line from the entire episode was Merediths, \"There wasn\'t a lot of fruit in the looms.\" (or whatever it is exactly.) and I have to admit to being completely unprofessional and thinking the line to myself a few times during some fittings at work . . . It totally made my day, though.

On the continuity error -- I didn\'t see one. At the convention, Michael makes it possible for Dunder Mifflin to sell Hammermill products. Meredith says she\'s been sleeping with the dude for \"a discount on Hammermill prodcuts and coupons to outback.\" So she\'s just buying Hammermill stock at a discount in exchange for sex. She didn\'t land the account or anything. Am I crazy? Sounded like this was a huge thing on some other sites as well? Maybe I\'m wrong.

>A 90 minute podcast for a 22 minute comedy TV show? Come on, guys. Brevity is >the soul of wit, and tediousness the limbs and outward flourishes. FWIW, The Office Alliance episode for this same Office episode ran nearly an hour - with no sound clips from the show (and no cool Olivia Newton John music, natch). I don\'t disagree that we could shorten things up, esp. during the first part of the Water Cooler segment. But ultimately, that\'s Matt\'s call.
-
I can explain away the Hammermill continuity error. The rep was a rep for a different paper company for the first 4 years and then sometime after Hammermill started selling to DM, the rep became the Hammermill rep. I used to be a buyer and my sales reps would often move from one vendor to the next. So Meredith just called him the Hammermill rep because that\'s what he is NOW.

Hey Matt Another really good podcast. Stayed up past midnight to listen to the whole thing. If there\'s one big thing I have to disagree with you on is you saying that the writers are turning Dwight into a villain. This is not HEROES. He\'s not cocooning people or slicing the tops off of cheerleader\'s heads. If anything, I love Dwight now more than ever. Andy is in fact a tool, and it\'s Angela\'s fault more than anyone that they\'re in this moral dilemma. Dwight is merely making up for lost time with her and winning her back. It\'s almost more of a twisted version of Jim trying to win Pam in Season 2. So please no more \"Dwight\'s a villain\" stuff. As for the music, I\'m not too big a fan of the theme song, so I like having new music on the podcast, specifically if it ties into the episode, like this podcast did. My favorite was for the podcast for \"The Negotiation\". Now when I hear Nickelback\'s \"Hero\", I think of Dwight, not Spider-Man.

I\'m concerned with the idea of Holly coming around MIchael\'s view of ethics and HR. If Holly is so much like Michael (which is funny and sweet) and she becomes a clone of him in terms of HR, where does that leave her character? It only leaves the humor of her nerdy behavior and the possibility of romance with Michael. And we know the romance can\'t last long because she won\'t be on the show long term - unless she goes off to Corporate or to graphics design school in NYC. Toby\'s character worked because you need someone to be \"straight\" on corporate policies to make Michael look different and goofy. It will be interesting to see what the writers do with Holly\'s HR role. Michael has totally co-opted her in this episode. I\'m looking forward to the romance playing out but skeptical on her value as an HR foil to Michael.

You totally made me realize this - Ryan can stay the receptionist, and Pam comes back and starts a graphics department! PS. I still think - after that phone call announcing the engagement that nobody from the office will be invited to the wedding. Maybe Kevin. But that is about it. I don\'t think they\'ll show it in any way but stealth. How can they after Phyllis\' wedding???
