I have a lot of respect for Jim and Pam (and grade myself somewhere around C-Minus to D-Plus in the scoping out personality and body language dept..) But I watched Baby Shower and didn\'t pick up the \"tension\" or lack of chemistry between the two. So OK, they didn\'t play \"kissy face\", but for goodness sake, they were hundreds of miles away from each other! Believe me; I was hoping the two of them wouldn\'t hit any home runs. But, frankly I just didn\'t see anything out of the ordinary there.

As an Adult , the Office is a kind of like a guilty pleasure...but I gotta tell tell you , it is entertaining. My daughter is 17 years old, and some of her friends also enjoy the earlier British Office. In this high-tech world , the show is pure and simple entertainment , and the actors really can make us laugh. The older actors like Creed are well-cast too . I am looking forward to seeing tonights episode - but at a later showing - like 10 pm on my DVR- so not so many screaming kids ....

I\'m fine with being wrong about Astrid\'s name. I\'m just saying that\'s how I took it at first. Question - do adoptive mothers lactate? I not too hung up on whether Dwight is the villain or not. I just love the pranks - whether it\'s on him or Andy (cell phone in the ceiling). .

great podcast. LOL @ Matt being a little weirded out by someone thinking of him during the Michael/Holly moments. I totally thought of you Matt. I also think of Kevin\'s man crush on Jim. For some reason I thought of Ian while Jan was breastfeeding. LOL You guys are our office buddies.

I remembered what my second point was. Great call on the whole college fund thing. When she said 529, I took it as if 5:29 was Astrid\'s feeding time. Being a recent university grad that never took out a student loan, I had no idea that a 529 thing even existed. So great call on that.

Having suffered greatly last week from serious lack of sleep, now that I\'ve had some I feel compelled to explain my \"Jim and Pam have a \'normal\' relationship\" comment. What I meant was that on SO many other shows I\'ve watched where I became interested in the main love story, the will-they-wont-they either goes on FOREVER (or at least until I lose interest) or they finally do get together in a single, passionate night have a whirlwind season long (or less) relationship and are broken up again before you can decide if you even liked them together just so they can start the whole, \"well, now that we\'ve broken up, I think we may have been meant for each other but I\'m too hurt and prideful to give it another go. Or AM I. . . ?\" thing. Despite the \'manipulations\' the writers are putting us through at least they\'re not broken up, and I find the whole long-distance engagement thing a new and interesting way to continue the will-they-wont-they type of emotional roller coaster. The fact that three of my now married friends have had long distance engagements probably helps. Fabulous podcast as always.

It was hard to get into Michael and Jan as a couple when she starts off insinuating that there is no way she should be interested in him but is taking her therapist\'s advice and going after all her crazy physical desires (Michael at the time). What really killed it, for me, for them as a couple was the dinner party episode. You can\'t root for a couple in that much misery. Your pronunciation of Astird on the podcast was different than I took it on the show. You took it as a two-word sophomoric bad joke. On the episode, I took it as a takeoff on \"bastard\" given the fact that the baby doesn\'t really have a father - in her home or in knowledge thereof. As to someone\'s feedback of Jan and Ryan - hard to see it given he took her job. Plus, he doesn\'t make enough to interest Jan in terms of support - which is what she probably really wants. But she does have a history with younger guys... .

Phil --- I think our host is correct about the darling little ASS-TURD. I thought they kind of went out of there way to make that play on words. Thursday Jake would have got along with Thursday Matt real well this week. This is the first episode in a long time that I wasn\'t extremely enthusiastic about. I still thought there were some great laughs in it (the \"baby daddy talk\" and jan showing up at her shower with the baby already, for example), but some of it just didn\'t quite work for me . . . I think the podcast discussion of the product placement was dead on. I was laughing at it while it was going on, but i think a better final scene regarding the stroller was needed. The writers were probably stuck between a rock and a hard place because they spent a bunch of time attempting to destroy the stroller, and it is definetly funnier if dwight is able to destroy it. however, i\'m sure the sponsor didn\'t want to shell out the dough to see their product fail (even in such extreme circs), so the writers had to leave it ambigous (I choose to believe that Jan\'s out a $1200 stroller). I had the same intitial reaction to Evil Jan that matt did. She spent so much time being an unbelievablly self-involved, oblivious bitch to Michael that I was a little puzzled why she would care about a holly and michael pairing (and i got two youngins, so i got the college fund joke the first time through). it makes sense that she is just after michaels financial support, but i think they really have turned her into the worst person on the show (i liked her better when she was just crazy and deluded). Also, her singing scene made me cringe more than any other scenes i can remember (which isn\'t really bad, i know they were going for awkward, and they hit it) Also, the jim and pam scenes worked for me, but obviously they didn\'t satisfy. they are pretty much two of the three main characters on the show (including michael) so naturally i want more of them in a given episode then just a couple of scenes. i\'m sure that this will never be the norm though. Lastly, I was OVERJOYED for our good host Matt when I saw michael\'s sweet arm encirclement (hug?) of holly flax... i know you\'ve been waiting for it big fella... ???angel????WTF????

So I\'m only about halfway through the \'cast, but I had to post before I forgot this. I actually absolutely LOVED Jan\'s singing. It was so awesomely out of place that I couldn\'t help but wonder what would have happened for her to get to that point. That very thought has kept me entertained for hours. That either means I\'m simple minded or tired, but in any case, I loved it.

Concerning the question of why Pam didn\'t just walk out of the laundromat when she couldn\'t hear Jim... I\'d have to go back and look, but I don\'t think she had her stuff in the machine yet. Would you really want to walk out of a public laundromat in New York and leave your stuff unattended? Just a thought.

Concerning the Regionqal Manager job that both Jan and Ryan WILL want to go for again in the future....Yes Jan and Ryan are in dire need of that job and do not have much else to look forward to. The use of \"villains\" is intentional. Nobody in his right mind can call Ryan, Jan or Holly for that matter a serious threat to Dunder Mifflin Scranton. It is David Wallace\'s aggressive stance which is source of this animosity. Look back who has been involved in promotions over the last seasons for instance. DM policies and most probably DM corporate in NYC have achieved a unprecedented level animosity. One really ought to address the question why?

i liked this episode it was funny. i\'ve liked all these episodes. matter of fact i genuinely love every episode of the the office, like genuinely. anyway, i agree that jan singing was awkward but people\'s reaction\'s made it awesome. like jim tellin pam about it. and i think jan should date ryan. it would be perfect. because michael loves them both. that would make things crazy. if it happens i want credit.

Although I liked this episode of The Office, Stanley\'s bit didn\'t do a lot for me. The only parts of this episode that I wanted to mention but didn\'t was the Meredith baby bottle. I\'m not quite sure what Angel from Atlanta is trying to say... but thanks for stopping by. The Office has two strong black characters, and Matt and I both praised Darryl\'s role this week.

I\'m still back in fourth season for your podcasts, but I just wanted to say how much I like the cover art for this week\'s podcast. I like that Jim and Pam are separated by \'something.\' If you can say that Michael \'is\' the office, then I suppose you can say the office is becoming an obstacle for them. I don\'t know. Mathematicians shouldn\'t try to analyze art.

Hey Matt This time I\'m only staying up until half past 11 to listen to the podcast. Another good episode, although I said I disagreed with you on Dwight, not \"agreed\" (just being a stickler for detail, no offense). I too wondered how exactly Michael could have the opportunity to hold a baby every day, but then I realized that he works in an office park. With the various employees of the other business, as well as the clients that drop by on a regular basis, there are way more people than we see on the show, so it\'s plausible for that montage to exist. I had a second point, but I forgot it. Also, you should have played the slip of Stanley comparing himself to a pregnant woman. Definitely a highlight.

Does this crazy freak Holly really think she has any chance at Michael? She was a farking NOBODY two months ago, not even a blip on the TV radar. Now she\'s emblematic of everything Dunder Mifflin has completely screwed up, and if Holly breaks his heart, she\'ll be remembered as the anchor tied around his neck. So something tells me that Holly is about to receive a call from Dunder Mifflin corporate telling her that if she doesn\'t cut the crap and keep it above the belt from now on, she could be throwing away her chance to rise to the executive level. And I think dirty diapers could be a real possibility for Dwight.

I been reading alot of comments on this website and blogs you got some really vocal fans on here. Now about this episode, we (as in some black folks) havent had a choice of TV sitcoms with black themes. so to me I have that choice and that choice is really as a Stanley fan and i will take that while i can. i tried to listen to your podcast but it just dont sit right with me. I heard all the shows and i\'m watching on what MATTER to me -- Stanley being a total badass. the writers should drop some of thier highbrow humor and i understand they worked hard for it but really, what are they doing??? and i\'m tired of these fans refering to Dwanglea vs. Jam or what ever they like to call them. we should all go by what we are called and that is human beings. DO NOT LET DWIGHT FOOL YOU.
