From Wikipedia: NEPOTISM The office turns against Michael when he refuses to fire the new office assistant, who has a bad attitude. Erin shows interest in another man and Andy tries to play it cool. Pam pulls an office prank on her own to impress Jim.
------ Well, here we are again! I've purposely avoided any clips or spoilers for the premiere episode, so I'm going in nearly blind. Hopefully season seven will serve as a fitting farewell to Steve Carell. Looking forward to seeing how it plays out.
As always, join Kevin and me in the TWSS chatroom during and after the episode, and leave your comments on the episode below.

Very interested to hear what you guys will have to say on this one. I've given up on this show I think. The only part I laughed at was the look on Michael's face when he had to decide between getting fired or undergoing six counseling session with Toby. The rest was... just annoying. Long live Community!!!

I liked the cold open. It was a fun departure and Tobey holding the camera was a nice comic bit. As for Gabe and Erin story line I would respond with "who cares". It was slightly more interesting with Andy but not by much. Now Andy and Gabe as a couple would be a more interesting twist on things. The A story with Luke was fun and I laughed out loud during the spanking scene. Clearly they were not going to push the creative wall in the first episode. It was a nice way to start the season off and Jenna is looking particular hot these days as I'm sure Kevin would agree.

I thought this episode was really good. I know that a lot of people did not like the cold open but I believe that it was the perfect way to start Michael's last season with a bang. At first, I though Dwight buying the building was a pointless idea, but now I realize this is a great opportunity for Jim and his pranks on Dwight. I think the funniest part of he episode had to be all of the cast members express their hate for Luke. "The New Guy Sucks. Calls me the Nard Man. I'm the Nard Dog okay. The Nard Man was my father." Great line by Andy. And though its sad to see Michael leave, its even more exciting to see who will replace him. Tim Allen FTW

Liked the cold open because the entire group was having fun. I was in Seattle on business and my son (26) and daughter (25) both e-mailed to ask if I caught the open - they enjoyed it too. Feeling bad for Andy. Erin is ditsy enough to believe she has to go out with Gabe because he's her boss and you have to do everything your boss says. Since the unrequited love of Jim and Pam is over, I was actually enjoying Andy and Erin. I know most don't care either way about their romance but I believe Erin is Andy's soul mate just as Holly is for Michael. The guy has suffered through the Angela fiasco. Even though he was a jerk in Stamford and an insufferable kiss up when he came to Scranton, I now want the guy to catch a break.

Hooray Michael finally got to show off his magic camp skills! The funniest part was probably the spanking, and I loved hearing the kid cry as he ran off. On another note I think they took the hint that the fans love Creed, it seemed like there was more Creed than ever.

I absolutely loved this episode! The cold open was hilarious with a lot of great moments, i loved the stuff mith Michael and his nephew, and even evil land lord Dwight worked for me. And the capper at the end with Michael seriously considering being fired over counseling with Toby was priceless. Something tells me this is going to be a great season of the office.

All in all, I feel like the lipdub at the beginning was....amusing, though out of place. Musical comedy is my thing, but it feels weird to have it on "The Office" -- but hey, I'll let it slide, I was midly amused, and it's a comedy show, so that's what they're going for I suppose. Amusement. Jenna does look different -- her face seems slimmer. And we've seen her with that half-up-half-down hairstyle for us to say it's not a hairstyle thing that's making her look different. She looks more tan, and her face seems a little thinner. *shrug* Whatever, though, I guess. I'm not particularly wowed over the episode, but after last season, I wasn't really expecting to be in awe, so I got pretty much the experience I was predicting: an episode with nothing particularly memorable (I think the spanking will soon be forgotten), nothing particularly bad, nothing particularly terribly unfunny, nothing particularly hilariously funny either. I laughed aloud once, but already I don't remember at what. All in all, a B sort of episode.

Oye ve. Don't think I even cracked a smile the entire episode. So, they're bringing Holly back to give Michael six sessions of training so that he doesn't spank anyone anymore? Wow. Lame. Highlight of the episode -- BJ Novack's look away when Michael asks if he should fire everyone who sucks in the office.

I liked the first half of the cold open but I thought it got a little tedious at the end. I also thought that the erin gabe thing was kinda stupid and came out of nowhere even though it lead up to the whale eating gabe thing which was my favorite part of the episode. I was also glad to see more of the background characters like Kelly and Toby.

Hey guys, I loved the show. I felt like it was returning back to a family I had missed for a long time. I think a lot of people hated the cold open, but I felt like it was needed for the last season premiere with Michael Scott at the helm I usually don't laugh out loud so much that people look at me weird but the image of Michael spanking his nephew was one of the funniest moments in Television in a very long time. I give the episode 9/10

Welcome back! The cold open was funny because it fits in with modern internet culture, and it reintroduces the cast. The Luke storyline didn't work for me, because the actor wasn't convincing. I agreed that Pam looked prettier, somehow. Maybe she got a tan or new makeup. I wished for more Gabe and Erin and more Dwight searching for raccoons in the ceiling. I loved Michael comparing himself to Hanson and God, Oscar being the Coalition for Reason, passing references to Michael wearing Talbots, Meredith cracking into cars, Kevin messing with the "circus board," and Creed being on Twitter. I hated the spanking scenes- what a cheap laugh and a quick way to settle the Luke problem. What's going on with Dwight and Angela? Where is Holly? How is the baby? What's going on in the warehouse? Who is the Scranton Strangler? I can't wait for more episodes and your amazing podcast!

I am an expat student living in London, so I haven't actually seen the episode yet, but I just wanted to say how much I enjoy the show. I take a very intensive art class that requires me to work several hours a day on studio work, and as a result I have become a podcast fiend! I have listened to every episode numerous times and cant wait for you guys to be doing regular shows again! Thanks for all the hard work and please keep it up!

I was SO happy to see a fun, kind Pam again. My biggest laugh out loud moment of the episode: Everyone is debating in the parking lot. "I'm in!" Meredith's announcement. I am SO sad about Michael leaving. I don't know if I can watch it once he's gone. It will be a different show (the show is about an Office with a crazy boss and Michael is that boss). However, I am going to really enjoy this last season with the original and true boss!

I LOVED the cold open!! And I agree with Karen. It's Carell's last season on the show. Let's just kick it off with some unabashed plain 'ol Michael silliness. Also, Jenna's did look a little different in her talking head. But she looked damn hot in the cold open. :-)

Hey Guys Speaking for all Luke's out there, we are not all like this Boondock Saints loving douche, or the mop haired boy in MODERN FAMILY. Now that I've gotten that out of the way, I felt this was, until the spanking at the end, a fairly average season premiere. While I can side with those who thought the cold open was dumb, it at least had some smart touches that made it actually funny, such as Ryan's WUPHF shirt, Angela slamming the door, Dwight ripping the head off of the toy on Phyllis' desk and the serrated knife he was wielding. The rest of the ep was regular OFFICE stuff that for me didn't really come together until the very end with aforementioned spanking. As for the prank plotline, nice to see some variation of typical prank set up (and Dwight was in Yosemite Sam form and not Elmer Fudd mode, thus pranking was justified) and pay off by tying it into Jim and Pam as a couple. Also loved Kelly's new attitude and Andy's relaxation visualization. All in all, glad the show is back, hope that they can't find a better replacement and thus end the show on a high note and glad Matt and Kevin are back and hopefully on a regular basis.

Enjoyed the episode quite a lot. The cold open didn't bother me, though it probably should have been relegated to the website. Loved the certificate on Kelly's wall for accomplishment in color printing. Like I mentioned to Kevin last night in the chat room, I think Erin and Gabe are both too "out there" to be interesting as a couple. When I read that Erin had a new guy, I was hoping against hope it was Todd Packer. There's your comic gold...

I am not sure how I feel about this episode yet, I think it is really weird how they didn't really explain the whole "Erin and Gabe" story line.... I thought Erin and Andy were doing well, I hope they explain what happened exactly. I agreed that Jenna Fisher looked a little different, I can't quite put my finger on what was off though. I can say that I am happy the office is back, I hope they don't disappoint.

Glad the Office is back. I'm betting there will be a lot of haters on the cold open, but I kind of liked it. It was like the team on the show realized that the last season was a major bummer, we all know Michael is leaving at the end of the season, so why not start with a little levity? I thought there were several clever lines, plenty of outrageousness that wasn't as absurdly over the top as other stunts we've seen (Michael driving into a lake because his GPS told him to was the worst for me). And plenty of input from characters not named Michael, Jim, Pam, Andy or Dwight. Since we must all accept the axiom that most shows slow down as they get older, I will gladly take this episode of the Office and enjoy it instead of harkening back to when the show was fresh and new (and better). And Pam wasn't bitchy! Hallelujah! Did anybody else think that Jenna Fisher has done something to her face? Her talking heads last night looked a little off to me. Maybe Botox or a mini face lift or something? She didn't look as "normal" as she used to. Maybe it's just me.
