Post your comments below. I promise not to delete the thread this time... EDIT: Seriously, WTF is going on with Andy? Has he gone off his lithium? Angela... damn, made me teary eyed again. Oscar... um... not an auspicious return. Same old stuff. "not right now, but ask me again 10 years ago" -- Brilliant. "I have a big personality" -- oh Phyllis! El oh el! I think it's strange/odd that Jim and Pam are sort of coming back together by default... no one else is as childish! Not that manic-Andy doesn't deserve it. But remember what happened when Jim put his calculator in jello? I think a return of psychotic-Andy might be around the corner. Kinda weird feeling so far... nowhere near as good as last week... very strange vibe. Liking some of it, not liking other bits. Love that Mexican lemonade (with the "enye," natch). EDIT 2: "We broke his brain..." DUH. Daaaaaaaaaamn Halpert... "yes"? "YES"? Just like that? WHAT THE FLIPPING HELL?? THERE'S A PRODUCER'S CUT? ANOTHER ONE!??! ARRRRRRRGGG! THANKS FOR THE WARNING! EDIT 3: Am I imagining things, or did they play "Up Where We Belong" during the scene where Michael comes to get Dwight? Vaguely creepy, to equate that scene with "An Officer and a Gentleman"...

I just watched for the first time off iTunes. Now I\\\'m really glad I didn\\\'t see the TV version. I don\\\'t like all these versions. I don\\\'t really like seeing deleted scenes either. I like my fake world to be real. I don\\\'t want to have to wonder if a deleted scene falls in the forest and no one hears it did it fall. But I suppose this is an understandable result of what looks like a transition from scheduled TV watching to whatever you call the other thing. Lola ~ You\\\'re not making too much of the double (or triple sometimes?) meanings in episode titles. Second season I noticed a few of them. The only one I can think of off hand is The Injury: burnt foot, concussed Dwight. Oh, The Fight. Jim and Pam also have a \\\"fight\\\" during the fight. And I know there\\\'s more. If I wasn\\\'t such a lazy ass, I\\\'d look at a list and remember. Also, I\\\'ve got to defend Phyllis. Just because she\\\'s over fifty and fat doesn\\\'t mean shouldn\\\'t shake that thang. Or thangs.

Where the hell was the Oscar?! We only saw about 5 minutes of him in the entire episode! Jim and Pam! What to do about them? Yes. Jim said yes. I was freaking out. Andy\\\'s fired right? posted by: Elisabeth on Thu, 1/18 09:03 PM EST Same. I was falling off the couch. AND screaming at any other person in the room about Jim and Pam. Sadly, now it seems like I don\\\'t have a life. Plus, what was up with Andy?! Michael seemed so...mature and nice compaired with Andy in the past episode and this one. (Although when you think back to Andy spazzing out about the jello thing...)Will he get fired? That would be interesting. It seems we\\\'ve lost a worker almost every episode! I don\\\'t think he\\\'ll be though. That would leave just Karen and I think that would be too akward. But that\\\'s what The Office lives off of right?

Someone on another website made a great comment. Pranking is foreplay for Jim & Pam. I loved that all Jim had to do was ask Pam if she wanted to pull the prank!? No other words were needed after her \'yes\'. Complete follow-through start to finish and not a word uttered. They dont have to talk or \'make\' their chemistry happen. Its naturally there with Jenna & John so that makes it come off even moreso as Jim & Pam.

Just watched the producers\' cut. I was wondering why Michael\'s normally perfectly coiffed hair was all messed up when he entered Staples. The convertible gag, makes sense now. Andy scares me! So will he be back somewhere down the road to wreak havoc again? Loved Phyllis and the maracas, she rocks! So after Angela and Pam\'s heart-to-heart I wonder if she will be the one to nudge Pam to finally say something to Jim. Can\'t wait to hear the podcast for this one!

I don\'t really know what to think about this. I loved Angela as a human, but Jim totally gave in way too easily. I guess they shot a bunch of different scenes with Karen and him (Prop guy John wrote about it in his blog), and I have the feeling that a different one would have been more... Jimish. Also not a word, but thats okay. But, I am on Team Halpeesly, so lets hope it actually happens this time around.

ok episode. I thought the andy parts were a little over the top. Man is that the most annoying cell phone ring you\'ve ever heard or what? I can kind of see why jim just said yes when karen asked him. I think he\'s tired of playing karen and that was his only window break up with her without him having to do it. Glad dwight\'s back, you just knew he was gonna go crazy on that pinata. I only watched the director\'s cut so im not sure this was in the original one but, how bout those creed moments. wow that guy is a nut. overall I think were gonna end up in the exact same position as it ended last year. I think all the stanford people will be gone by the end of the season and jim will be trying to tell pam his feelings ..again

I thought for a minute there that Dwight was going to inadvertently tell Michael about his relationship with Angela, figuring that she had already said it. I loved the bit about the things he does around the office that he doesn\'t publicize. I\'m so glad it didn\'t take a bunch of episodes to bring him back. Like Lola said, I kept thinking \"The Return\" might not just be for Oscar, and I\'m glad that was true! I really do wonder how long before the remaining Stamfordites (is that a word?) are gone. I don\'t think Andy will last beyond the next episode - he\'s totally incompetent, and he annoys Michael (which I thought was a riot), and now he\'s shown himself to have genuine anger management issues which could endanger his co-workers. He\'s SO gone. As for Karen, I\'ll be interested to see if she just fades away or tries to win Jim over. I kinda can\'t see the latter happening - it\'s not like he doesn\'t already know how she feels about him, so if he\'s not going to reciprocate, I can\'t see her just hanging on to him.

I was surprised that the director\'s cut contained relative plot information. Last time they did this it was a series of nothing clips with Creed and Merideth, which I liked but didn\'t add anything. At the very least they should have included the part at the end where Andy goes to Anger Management. I wondered last night what happened to Andy as well, and only got a clue after watching the extended version at NBC.com today. Don\'t get me wrong- I hope they keep doing this. Could we start a movement to make this the first hour long sitcom? I know it would never happen, but wouldn\'t that be awesome!

oooh! is the producer\'s cut up already? i better check my itunes account! it would be kind of cool if karen stuck around--but not to be with jim, of course! toby should swoop in ask karen out. (yeah, not likely.) don\'t get me wrong, i\'m SO glad at the possible JAM coupling but, is it just me or was this a weird episode for jim to realize he still had feelings for pam and admit it to karen? yes, they pulled a prank together but, there wasn\'t a certain JAM \"moment\" where they gave each other a look (ex.: casino night, when pam winked at jim during the mind-control gag). they seemed more buddy-buddy than flirtatious. the prank didn\'t require them to interact that much other than pam passing the phone off to jim. does any of that make sense? (probably not!) i really didn\'t think jim would admit his feelings for pam in THIS particular episode. well, either way, i\'m totally stoked that they might finally get together...as long as pam doesn\'t f*ck it up! (marci: \"stamfordites\" sounds about right. more so than \"mexicanity\". :-)

just watched the producer\'s cut on nbc website (damn itunes!) and the oscar storyline made a lot more sense. i\'m glad oscar is back! i\'m with erik, we should petition to extend the office to an hour long! i loved the parts with creed--hilarious! and phyllis \"dancing\" at the end--ugh *shudders*. oscar isn\'t the only guy on the party planning committee, ryan is on it too, forgot about that.

Where did Andy go to college?... maybe they have an extensive network to get him a job elsewhere... you know, a college where the alumn really take care of each other. I don\'t think Andy was too out of character (he was all over michael in Benihana as well, Michael just accepted it there). As mentioned, he flipped out about the Cosby Calculator gag back at Stanford. We wondered last week if Michael was oblivious to Andy\'s manipulation... and it seems he wasn\'t. Why was Pam the last one that Jim went to (besides climatic writing)? Is he being noble and trying not to fall for her since Karen moved to Scranton? And... I don\'t know, we haven\'t seen a whole lot of pep from Karen (apart from party planning), but I wouldn\'t count her out yet. Would she go to bat to get Jim\'s affection, or just roll over and get written out of the script? She once gave Pam goosebumps... I\'ve gotta think that just because Jim still has feelings for Pam, that doesn\'t mean that she\'s giving up that easy.

I\'ve started to like Karen but I was super excited with the potential reteaming of Pam and Jim. I loved Jim\'s obviously non-accidental tipping over of pens to get to Andy\'s cell phone, the hand off between Pam and Jim on the way to the break room and Pam being the lookout at the watercooler. But I lost it when Jim lifted up the ceiling panel and threw the phone, I had to re-watch that a few times, add in Stanley\'s total look of boredom when he heard the thump and that just made the scene perfect. Although I agree Jim should have learned his lesson with pranking Andy after his breakdown at the other office. Oh and Pam\'s \"I think we broke his brain\" - HILARIOUS!! And while I do feel bad for Karen, I was THRILLED when Jim said he still has feelings for Pam!! I wonder if he can tell she has feelings for him now, and if he can what will he do about it? I did notice the music when Michael went to \"rescue\" Dwight from Staples, like the hero saving the heroine, only the heroine difiantly throws off their shirt and storms out instead of being carried. I found it incredibly hilarious when Michael had his little monologue about Andy being in his space and said something about Andy not understanding personal boundries or something to that effect - basically the thing Michael does in every other episode except tonight. I also loved Michael\'s speech at the end about wanting someone to suck up to him because they truly like him and not to try and further their career. When are Dwight and Angela going to go public? From the way Angela acted once Dwight was gone to the way they held hands when he came back, people (though obviously not Michael) have to be starting to wonder.....or maybe not, that\'s a pretty clueless bunch. Can\'t wait to see what happens next!

matt: i thought you meant you didn\'t know what the diacritic mark was.---yeah, so--so there! :-P LOL! (or should i say \"ele-o-ele\") ahh... i\'m such a brat. :) oh, who else was cracking up during dwight\'s interviews when he said he was an alpha male?! hahaha!

Oscar returns from his long vacation with mixed emotions on whether or not he still wants to be a part of the office. Am I totally crazy, or did this not happen? Maybe it will be in the producer\'s cut. That\'s probably where Meredith and Creed are hiding. I loved the Dwight and Angela moments. Way to go Angela, for helping out a completely random coworker. My inner JAMMER was flipping out. Once in love with Pam, always in love with Pam. I hope the FNB doesn\'t break his heart again. Wouldn\'t it be great if Karen\'s whole purpose was to bring the golden couple together? I might stop calling her a whore. :)
-
elisabeth: i didn\'t even think about that until you brought it up. that is weird, oscar didn\'t seem that hesitant to be at work. is \"fnb\" mean fancy new beesly? well, to be fair, last episode karen was made up like a whore so, you may not be far off on that one. :) (matt: hmm, 6 semesters of spanish, eh? heehee!)

Before the episode, I started thinking about how this one was called \"The Return\" and I was wondering what that really meant. I know that we all knew that Oscar was returning and all, but I started thinking back to \"The Initiation\" and how someone (Matt or Ian or someone on this blog page I think) was saying how that had a double meaning (Ryan\'s \"initation\" and also the whole Jim and Pam finally talking to each other thing - sort of \"inititing\" contact or however you want to say it). Anyway, I was wondering about that with this episode\'s title, and thinking that maybe it would mean that Oscar was returning, but also that Dwight was returning. And now, after watching it, we know that Dwight *did* return. It also looks like Andy\'s on his way out, and Karen is pretty much out of the picture and probably/maybe she will leave, too. So this episode sort of set in motion this whole \"return\" to how the office used to be. Everything is back to where we were before Jim\'s Big Casino Night Confession. I think maybe some other episode titles kind of did that, too, but now I can\'t remember which ones. Am I reading too much into this? (probably). Anyway, keep up the great work, guys! Love the podcast and the blog!

i second that! yes!--could this be the beginning of \"jam\" as a couple? i hope so!! i\'m so psyched! i hope the writers don\'t schrute-it and prolong the thing for another year! pam, you better step-up to the plate and stop moping around! i loved the lemonade bit! i\'m mexican-american too so i was cracking up when michael was planning the party. sadly, that wasn\'t that far off from things people have actually said to me. haha! i was glad to see a more vulnerable side of angela, it made her a lot more human. dwight at staples was hilarious!
