Hey, what\'s the name of the website that you guys recommended in lieu of Wikipedia? Love the podcast. You guys crack me up, especially Ian with his little giggle. Here\'s a constructive comment: pay attention to how much you use the phrase \"again, like we said before\" -- seems like a verbal crutch. I noticed in the Coup podcast when Matt was by himself that he didn\'t use it as often. Keep up the good work!

Ian, I like the idea that Karen is doing an exchange -- it seems more in character for her. Nomi et al, I agree about Phyllis, she seems a bit wishy washy. Still, since it\'s obvious that Jim is with Karen, (to everyone but Ryan, apparently) perhaps Phyllis thinks it\'s completely over between Pam and Jim. She has to have noticed their lack of former congeniality and general chummines. When I look at it like that, I don\'t feel so much like she\'s a traitor, just a hopeless romantic who follows romance wherever it goes.
-
Anyone catch that when Pam was changing the flat tire Angela was picking up garbage that fell out of Meredith\\\'s car, haha Also, it seemed to me that they sort of left it out in the open as to whether Jan and Michael are really finished. Jan just sort of stormed out angry. But the thing that really tied the whole episode together was Michael\\\'s wishes. It\\\'s amazing how the writers can make you want to smack Michael in the begining of the episode and then make you feel compassion for him at the end. Last thing, I don\\\'t know why I found it so funny when Michael was trying to fish out with his shoe the dollar bill he accidently threw into the water, but I did.

> Well, I appreciate that, given how often my own name\\\'s been mispronounced. (Oh, did I once blog about that?) Back to thoughts of Karen and lime-green lingerie, is it possible that she acquired such intimate attire by returning a previous purchase, as was her earlier stated intent?
-
Ian, I was just just thinking that if \\\"one\\\" really wanted to annoy Matt, one could post a whole story about giving fake names at cafes to avoid having one\\\'s real name mispronounced . . . But, yeah, about Phyllis. Elisa, it\\\'s definitely struck me as kind of odd and inconsistent that they\\\'ve had her be so buddy-buddy with Karen when she apparently knows the truth. I really like how Phyllis, the actress, delivers her lines and just her presence. But I\\\'ve sometimes felt like the writers don\\\'t quite know who she is.
-
I wonder, actually, if it\'s a problem stemming from the fact that she\'s not a professional actor. Same with Toby. (Though, I have the impression that Phyllis has more experience in some form with acting.) What I\'m getting at is that it seems like they tend to keep their roles to a minimum. I think especially with Toby -- Paul -- there\'s the sense that he can pull off those mumbled nasal one liners well, but that he might not be able to carry an extended scene. Less true with Phyllis, but possibly a bit of that issue is part of the problem?

I saw the commercial for this week\\\'s episode last night and it turned me into Kelly: Oh my God oh my God oh my God!!! Quick, someone wish me a brain :-) I\\\'m a Tracie who has frequently been called \\\"Stacy\\\" my whole life. One friend of my parents has done it consistently for 25 years. Oh well... mathercize: I didn\\\'t think Phyllis was deeply traumatized by the flasher, just kind of disturbed and grossed out. If not for the comment about how Bob Vance had taken her for a walk to calm her down, I would have thought everything about her reaction to the situation, including her quick recovery, was totally in character. As far as having a boss buy me something at Victoria\\\'s Secret, I\\\'d probably not be comfortable with it but I\\\'d probably also be too wimpy to say no. Pam\\\'s choice of a non-intimate item was a good one. I didn\\\'t really buy that Karen would have gone for Michael financing her lime green bra and panties, considering how vocal she was about everything being sexist and insulting. I loved her comment about having stuff to return at the mall anyway though.
-
tracie: yeah, i agree about karen letting michael buy her underwear. although, she might have paid for it herself. i can imagine jim being like, \\\"oh man, you look hot, you bought that at the mall today?\\\" and karen: \\\"yeah, well, actually michael bought it.\\\" jim: \\\"okay, i think we\\\'re done here.\\\" and as far as names go, i\\\'ve seldom met anyone who pronounced my name correctly. i\\\'ve gotten \\\"elsa\\\" \\\"eliza\\\" \\\"elisha\\\" \\\"AH-ly-sa\\\" and so on. although matt did get it right! ian is off the hook cuz he\\\'s ian! phyllis has been pissing me off lately. it seems like she\\\'s being more buddy-buddy with karen than with pam. traitor! first she takes all pam\\\'s wedding ideas, then she\\\'s encouraging karen with the lingerie. is it just me? yes? i know, they\\\'re not real people. :( awww.
-
Nomi and Melonie--that\'s too funny. My name is Emily, but growing up my family called me Emmy. Nobody in the 70s was named Emmy, so I got called Amy a lot by mistake. So weird! Just saw the NBC ad for the new episode. Holy smokes! It looks JAM-tastic! I hope this isn\'t another NBC tease.
-
wasn\\\'t \\\"nomi\\\" the name of elizabeth berkley in \\\"showgirls\\\"? HAH! that movie is so retarded! it\\\'s hilarious! i\\\'m not making fun of the name, nomi. i swear. you rock! :) LOL! oh man, i wish it was on vh1 right now! or \\\"cool as ice\\\"! i\\\'m in the mood to watch a terrible movie. maybe \\\"superman 3\\\" or 4---oh my GOD---do you guys remember \\\"howard the duck\\\"? LOL!!!!!
-
I really liked this episode. It has everything that I enjoy in the show, except for some real Jim and Pam action. Bravo! I laughed so much during this episode, though admittedly more after the first 10 minutes, which were not great for me and hard to watch (TWSS).
-
Nomi -- I said I\'d take it, (see above post. :) ) so you\'re not the only one. If Michael were my boss, I\'d probably just assume he\'d say/do stupid things regardless so why not? I took the whole Jim/Ryan/Karen thing the same way you did, Tracie, and maybe she was throwing a little pity at Kelly too just then.
-
Misogynist Michael is going to say sexist and derogatory comments no matter what they do... so, Nomi, I say they might as well get some sweet knickers out of the deal: freeload away! Speaking of creepy... the Michael buying VS was a weird way to end the episode considering it all started with a flasher. Also, Phyllis went from being (apparently) deeply emotionally scarred by the flasher to fine the rest of the episode... even perky enough to be the first to give a verbal thumbs-up to role-playing in the bedroom.
-
So here\\\'s a preview of the next episode (fiction): Phyllis wins a raffle for a big screen, Pam finally gets the cojonés to tell Jim how she feels, Kelly goes to business school, and Angela gets pregnant and hormonally changes into mother goose...... Nah, too unbelievable... I mean really... Kelly in business school? Yeah, right. 5 bucks says that Michael tried to use his corporate credit card on the VS purchase.
-
Melonie, sorry, missed that. Slightly off topic: When I was little and shy about saying my name that no one would understand and I exacerbated things by mumbling it, a LOT of people heard it as \"Melonie.\" Then I was usually too shy to tell them they got it wrong, so I was sometimes called Melonie for short periods. So, we once almost had the same name. I\'m not quite that shy anymore. Was that fascinating?
-
My take on the Jim/Ryan exchange and Karen\\\'s reaction to Kelly\\\'s comment about Ryan: Jim was telling Ryan he knew all about it, including what Karen had told she replied or considered replying Ryan. Karen\\\'s expression after Kelly\\\'s comment that they were \\\"awesome... awful...\\\" was a knowing one, because she has some insight into how devoted Ryan is to Kelly. I didn\\\'t think she looked interested -- it was more of an eye-rolling thing. I think Karen is still really into Jim, and Jim has gotten comfortable with Karen. I still think true JAM love will conquer all though :-)
-
So, I\\\'m the only slutty freeloader so far? I guess in real life with a normal boss it would be totally ridiculous. Well, no normal boss would do it . . . I suppose I\\\'m thinking of Michael being my boss and, yeah, even though he could bring it up later as Em said, it would just be more stupid harmless (?) Michael stuff.
-
\"Ok while I like Michael\'s Wizard of Oz talking head, I still wonder why Michael knew Pam needed courage. I know he has those rare bursts of Wisdom(s), but I felt like they were just pandering.\" Elisabeth -- Yes, good point, and I had the same thought. The Wizard of Oz reference was funny, but I wondered the same thing about how he\'d know that about Pam -- he has no idea what she\'s going through. Even with Angela and Kelly -- he\'s never shown that much \"insight\" into them before.
-
Personally, I\'d be weirded out by having my boss buy me lingerie, too intimate. If it was Michael Scott definitely not! You just know that would come back to haunt you. I can just see him walking into the office and saying something like \"Hey that shirt looks nice on you, must be the push-up bra I bought you.\" or \"You sure are in a good mood today Jim, that teddy I bought for Karen sure did the trick\". Ick. I was rolling my eyes at all the penis humor early on, but I laughed out loud so many times that I got over it. Loved Pam\'s prank on Dwight, and Jim\'s appreciation of it. Missed Andy singing. I liked the one red pin in the state map, \"this is what we know\". I guess the vampire stake mop is the only weapon Dwight has left after Toby made him clean out his stash. Michael didn\'t bother to read the whole 101 things a man should know book, because knowing how to change a flat tire has got to be in there. So how many of Michael\'s wishes will come true? Was that foreshadowing? I gotta think Phyllis\' \"Don\'t think, just answer\" technique might come into play again.
-
Just one more thing. Some of the folks from Offictally got to watch the filming of this ep. They said the scene outside VS got cut short. In the full scene apparently all the ladies enter the store except Pam and Angela who have to be coaxed in by Michael. Maybe that would explain the Pam needing courage wish?
-
i\'m still confused by that jim/ryan exchange. i get that he [ryan] was talking about karen...but then jim is like \"she\'s not really ready to date somebody from the office but she really likes you as a friend.\" well, isn\'t she dating jim? why phrase it like that? why wouldn\'t he say, \"she likes you as a friend but we\'re dating and its serious.\" that\'s why, i think, i thought ryan was talking about pam. but tyler\'s right, i didn\'t notice until i rewatched it that karen made a weird face when kelly said they weren\'t doing well. i\'m so confused! i think throwing in a pam/ryan twist would\'ve been interesting if they didn\'t have the toby-crush-on-pam story. what\'s ryan\'s deal? that\'s the second time he\'s tried to pick up one of jim\'s girlfriends! first katie, now karen? he\'s really cocky.
-
yeah, ryan reminds me of a lot of guys i\'ve worked with that are about to finish college or just out of college and think they\'re hot shit. he\'s a real prick. he still cracks me up though. b.j. novak is an awesome writer. i think pam would be too good for ryan, anyway. she should be with someone like..oh...hmmm...i think his name is james, or something like that. i wonder if they\'re gonna put the kibosh on the toby/pam quasi-storyline. ohhh!! i just read today...nbc is VERY LIKELY going to extend the office to an hour! yay! (ya\'ll probably already discussed that...i\'m so behind, this semester is never ending.)
-
Matt: I like free things so, yeah. I would have taken him up on the offer. But I probably would have picked out lotion or a bathrobe instead of lingerie. *shrug* I liked the episode on the whole. It had some good lol moments, and I too liked the bathroom stuff. It cracked me up because I never get to actually use the couch in our restroom. It\'s just there to be pretty. . . (and incidentally, some of the most amazing women\'s restrooms are in Vegas. The Bellagio, in particular, has incredible sitting rooms.) I liked the Jim/Pam/Karen stuff because it was subtle yet obvious -- I like that Pam is speaking up more. I know some might not think her changes are that extreme or that obvious, but feeling confident enough in your opinions and not worrying all the time about others (Karen) is a huge step, and I can completely relate. Go Pam! O.k. I\'m falling asleep. Time to go. . .
-
Just caught this the second time, but did you notice the look Karen had when Kelly mentioned that things with Ryan were on the rocks! Go Team Raren! or is it Kyan? I also thought it was great that Kelly was dancing to Michaels ringtone. I did think the reference to the christmas party was a little too much because if someone hadn\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t seen it and didn\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t know about Merediths drinking problem, they may have thought that michael was making it up. I did think Karen\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s comment about the mall being demeaning but also that she had some things to return was a brilliant observation.
-
\\\"Ok also...what was with Pam wanting to see Roy beat somebody up? That was a little weird\\\" That for me, was the weirdest talking head of the entire series. But at least FNB is thinking about....um, that\\\'s what she said? Not the best, not the worst episode. I think Karen might leave because of Michael rather than Jim or Pam, his comments to her in Phyllis\\\' Wedding, and \\\"or Karen from the back.\\\" Ok while I like Michael\\\'s Wizard of Oz talking head, I still wonder why Michael knew Pam needed courage. I know he has those rare bursts of Wisdom(s), but I felt like they were just pandering.
-
My bad on what I wrote. I knew Andy realized it was Dwight - but I expect more about Andy with this in the deleted scenes. That\\\'s what I meant to say. BTW - I loved Jim\\\'s made up word in the cold open, but I can\\\'t remember what it was :-( Gotta watch the episode again.
-
I know the crap out of women!!! Bahahahaha... There are what -- two episodes left? Where is all this personal growth Pam is supposed to be going through? Not that there\\\'s anything wrong with the Pam stuff they\\\'ve had, but... she changed a flat tire. In light Jenna Fischer\\\'s comments in that interview you guys talked about, I\\\'m confused. I loved all the Kelly stuff, especially the jumping up and down with her hands full of panties as Michael says he wished for a brain for her. Not so much the Meredith stuff -- she\\\'s a drunk and she drives fast, okay, but the chip bag out the window and bashing another car in the parking garage? What are those things supposed to tell us about her, exactly? Once again, rude comments about Phyllis\\\' looks -- enough with that already. Not that Dwight and Michael wouldn\\\'t say those things, but I don\\\'t really buy that everyone would just let it pass time after time, especially Karen. How is Team Karen feeling about this episode? Jim seems pretty serious about her and seems to be acting like a good boyfriend. I still want her out of the picture, but the relationship no longer looks like a device to keep Jim and Pam apart. I\\\'m with you, Matt -- still too much Creed. Put him back at his desk and give Stanley more lines instead. I neither liked nor hated it this episode -- it was solid but not my favorite. My husband, on the other hand, laughed his head off through the whole thing. I just thought it had its moments.
-
I can\\\'t really pinpoint exactly why but I loved this episode. Jan\\\'s lines about putting the money on the bedstand was so funny (I guess I just wish I could be Jan\\\'s boy-toy). And the acting with Carell and Hardin in this episode was really great. (but... who besides me thinks they\\\'ll be getting back to together? I do!) Many laugh out loud moments. The reveal of the perp sketch. Ryan made a play... The final comments about Kelly needing a brain. Dwight seeing his reflection in the bathroom. I\\\'m sure the deleted scenes will reveal Andy realizing it was Dwight in the sketch. This episode just kept me smiling throughout. Can\\\'t wait for next week\\\'s episode!
-
Yeah this one definitely had me conflicted, because the first 10 minutes or so had me rolling my eyes so much i was getting dizzy (Dwight removing all the bandanna\'s from the break room, I mean come on) but the second act, as it were, had me laughing non-stop. Though i did think that Phallus was funny... My favorite thing, BY FAR however, was the fact that Jan was so into having control in that relationship, and so obviously told herself that it was okay by lording her superiority over Michael, yet in the end she has to live with the cold hard fact that she was dumped by Michael Scott. Ouch.
-
For real? I don\'t get. Could I be that off? I know, I know, you\'re just going to say, \"Yes.\" But . . . I don\'t know. I\'ll watch it again when it\'s out on iTunes (no Tivo), but . . . well, what can I say? There\'s no accounting for taste? Maybe I\'ll have a revelation, but I can\'t imagine it\'s going to transform that much overnight.
-
I\'m not much of a kelly-fanatic.... but seeing her bounce around with victoria secret underwear while Michael says \"I wished that Kelly had a brain\" was one of the funniest scenes in the last few episodes. I felt that Creed\'s creepy (flashing = no big deal) lines were a little forced... but the whole bathroom thing was random and funny.
-
I though this episode was amazing, It was probably one of the best this season. I really enjoyed the cold open, I love seeing Jim pull rank over Dwight, pure gold. There tons of great one liners in this one too, Michael at the end saying what he wished for for each women, Dwight saying he wished he menstrated so he wouldn\'t have to have a calender, Michael saying Jan made him wear a dress . Someone should count how many times \"penis\" was uttered in the first ten minutes.
