A strange thing is happening to me this season. Last season I downloaded the tv episodes on my iPod and watched them over and over again while working out. This season I do not have the time to sit in front of my computer, so I am not finding the experience as enjoyable, nor am I becoming as fanatical. I guess it is good that I have a life now, but it is highly disappointing.

I think they took the voting down. I was on earlier and there was a button up at the top, and I had trouble scrolling through all of the designs, as Sabai/Eric said as well. When I went back later it was gone, and the announcement saying voting was up was gone as well. I\'m guessing they ran into some problems and took it down until they could fix it.

My husband picked up on a discrepancy during this episode. Remember in \"The Job\" where the CFO praised Michael for merging the branches without losing a client? If that\'s true then why did Michael & Dwight have to go begging to get clients back. I know it\'s just a plot device but with the Season 3 DVD just coming out, that piece of info might be near the top of some brains. Maybe it\'s just my husband. He can remember that but can\'t remember to pick up his shoes. I don\'t read other \"Office\" message boards so if anyone has any thoughts I\'d love to hear it. Love the podcast Matt, but it wasn\'t on iTunes this AM. When is it coming out?

Ok, so Toby is a jackass. He clearly wanted to out Jim and Pam to find out how serious they were because he still hopes to get a shot with Pam. Despite the fact that he NEVER talks to her. That annoyed me so much. I have always liked Toby and found it hilarious but sad when Michael picked on him. I\'m an HR person myself and we get picked on quite a bit. But outing Jim and Pam simply to be pissy about her dating someone is beyond low. The scene where Michael drives into the lake? That just pissed me off and made me want to turn the tv off. There is no way he could have done that in reality. While his character is always over the top and completely nuts and out of touch with reality there is no way a semi-intelligent grown man would drive his car into a lake just because \"the computer said to\". Unless he did it on purpose so that he could blame the computer and show how it messed up, then there is no way this is remotely realistic. Ugh, that just irritated me to no end. Creed with Toner-Hair is awesome. I also loved it when Ryan told Kelly that they would never be back together and she just didn\'t understand why.

Right on, Amy! Right there with you. I was shocked to learn how, um..., \\\"edited\\\" the postings at that \\\"other site\\\" were. That very topic will likely make the final cut of the next podcast episode too. Matt definitely has the right editorial concept and it\\\'s nice to see him go on record about it. Regarding DMI... I understand the site is supposed to emulate the \\\"under construction\\\" process going on inside the actual The Office show. But the emulation is making for a lousy user experience. I suppose they did not anticipate the crush of users (or so I presume).

Once again I was out of town on Thursday night and couldn\\\'t wait to get home and watch The Office. Anyway, I didn\\\'t love this episode, but like others, I thought a lot of it was enjoyable... - I love how Jim and Pam are so comfortable together that they are able to just shrug off mortifying things like Michael\\\'s reaction to their being a couple. - The part where Phyllis told Pam she had to be fair about directing calls from new sales cracked me up, even though I wondered, would Pam really be the one making that kind of decision? -The whole fancy new Ryan thing is great. I love how there is always room for one more complete tool on this show :-)

Take a look at the whiteboard in the background about half way through the episode. It is the scene where Dwight and Angela are talking, just before they head out to the elevators. On the 26th, I believe, the board says \"Anger Management Appreciation Day, Send an enemy a nasty note.\" I\'ve always wondered what funny things may be hiding in the background, so I set out to find some stuff. Also, earlier in the month, Karen is listed as having \"flex time.\" Perhaps the board hasn\'t been updated in a while. My thoughts on the episode have already been stated by others. It was overall disappointing, but had some strong points. I liked Michael\'s physical acting when getting out of the sinking car, but hated the fact that they made him stupid enough to drive a car into a lake voluntarily. If only he had made a quick turn and ended up in the lake because they GPS said turn ... that would have been funny and would have got the \"Technology is evil\" point across that Michael was trying to demonstrate this episode. PB&J were excellent in being cute and together, while not being in your face with Drama. I hate Ryan ... I can\'t wait for him to fall from grace -Jeff

Amylia, you are now my new BFF! Seriously, we could not stop laughing at Michael in that scene! Over the top? Check! Out of place? Double-check! 100% Michael? Check, check, check! Incidentally, I love how we all have really different views around here and we\'re all so welcoming. And no one is telling anyone to get the hell out of here. There are other sites (and you know which ones I\'m talking about) where I\'d be afraid to post if I had ANY negative feedback for fear of getting called a troll. I rarely have negative feedback, but I feel good reading this site. My 2 cents. Thanks Matt!

I really loved this episode. Like Amy and her hubby, I was rolling when Michael was flipping out over the turtles. I know it was far fetched, but so funny. So many things I liked in this episode--most of you covered it. I surprised so many people didn\\\'t like it. I thought it was way better than Fun Run, and one of my faves. Rewatching now!
-
i think that the whole car into the lake thing was jsut too much for me. i got the joke and the whole point that michael was trying to make about technology, but the bottom line is that it was so over-the-top, i had a hard time believing that michael would do that. this is the same guy that was able to land the entire lackawana school district. hes not a complete idiot. driving the car into the lake on purpose was unfunny. thank goodness rainn\'s physical comedy was there to keep me afloat. the episode was super rad outside of that scene. how great was temp?!

for the first time i actually made a list of what i liked and didn\'t like for the episode, because i was really back and forth on this one. the second half was so very painful... YAY! -the cold open -> andy\'s TUNA!, Michael being so happy about jim and pam -garbage the cat -the use of the security camera... haven\'t seen that in a while (the FIRE!) -ryan being an ass... is awesome -phyllis\'s \"i couldn\'t see your hands\" -ryan is like a fake brother who steals your jeans -the return of the Big picture and Ben Kingsley -the \'is the magic gone?\' conversation -\"you are so money\" awww swingers -the air five between jim and pam -seeing the shadow of the camera guy in the lake -Jim\'s \"well i guess he cant get any girl he wants\" NAY... -the quick reveal of jim and pam, why so soon? -michael\'s \'read\' into ryan\'s snapping at him. -kelly\'s fake pregnancy... laaaaaaaaaame -the demise of dwangela... so sad! -the gift baskets... it hurts... so much. -Michael being that stupid as to drive into a lake. -the process of getting the gift basket back was really over the top the first half was just so much better than the second. also, someone mentioned that andy calls jim, john at one point. I assume its right after the cashbaskets! comment, but i think it\'s just a slurred version of tuna. sorry this is so long.
-
Not a bad episode. Not fantastic, but I didn\\\'t despise it. I really think the show works the best when it\\\'s an hour though. LOVED: Jam, Garbage, Andy\\\'s pants, \\\"Where are the turtles???\\\", and all the that\\\'s what she saids NOT SO MUCH: Car in lake, gift baskets, conference room with old guy (actually turned off the tv) Still, though, there were some laughs and I have faith for next week
-
Except for Michael and Dwight’s ridiculous basket quest I liked the episode. Phyllis’ comment to Pam was a bit too harsh for her also. I loved the way they shot the reveal of Creed’s new look and everyone’s reaction to it. Also loved the Pam and Jim stuff, they are handling it really well so far. I found the Ryan/Jan scene interesting. Back in The Job David Wallace showed some class in accepting Michael’s withdrawal from consideration after he’d already been told he wouldn’t get the job. When Jan says leaving was the best decision she ever made Ryan throws back “they let you go?. Ouch. Just one of many examples that show Ryan clearly has long way to go on people skills. OK so how long until the shiny new DM Infinity website gets hacked and starts spewing out porn spam to all their clients? PS – Dwight cries like a wookie!

Ryan already makes a great villain for the show, easily hateable, totally arrogant, with just the right amount of vulnerability. But I\\\'ll echo many of the thoughts here: the second half of the episode, with the gift baskets, was PAINFUL. When that car sank into the water, I was hoping it would take me with it. And to Elisa (ELISA!), I\\\'ll try my best to be in the chat on Thursday. Matt gruff? I don\\\'t believe you. :)

I liked this episosde a lot. Like other people I thought the first half was much stronger than the second half. Micheal being such an idiot is getting kind of old to me. Did anyone else notice that Dwight and Micheal didn\'t try to help the cameraman when the car was in the lake? It just seemed weird because last week they reminded everyone that the cameraman was an actual character again.
-
I thought the first half was much stronger in this one. It\'s a really fine line with Michael\'s idiocy, and by the end, it did feel more contrived than usual. I was pretty surprised that Jim and Pam\'s secret came out that quickly too. They definitely set it up for Andy to move in on Angela now. Things could get interesting there. I\'m glad they toned Andy down a little bit this season. His talking head about now being the best looking single guy in the office was really funny. The bit with Creed\'s hair was awesome. I loved that Pam got to shoot Ryan down, but I don\'t really buy that he\'d be hitting on her. Did he ever pay that much attention to her when he worked there? Now he lives in a different city. Maybe it was just a game to see how quickly he could get her since he\'s a big shot now. Still, it was fun to see his face when he found out she and Jim were together and I did love Jim\'s talking/gloating head.

I\'m still feeling that this season of The Office is not living up to the previous three. However there is one element of the show that I\'m totally loving and that is Ryan as the boss. Mind you, it\'s not because I like the character of Ryan, or think that he is the wonderkund who is going to be the savior of Dunder Mifflin. Quite the opposite. It\'s because Ryan so wonderfully represents the slick, know-it-all, self-centered jerk that we unfortunately all know too well in our collective workplaces. In just two episodes of Season Four, Ryan has: 1. Got a trendy new look, complete with a hot new power suit, neatly trimmed facial growth and $200 haircut. 2. Forced a total electronic overhaul of the Dunder Mifflin corporate culture down everyone\'s throat. 3. Came up with the name \"Dunder Mifflin Infinity\" for the company\'s website. Sorry. But how lame is that? 4. Managed to talk the CFO into purchasing blackberries for all employees. (Geez! How much is that going to cost???!!!) 5. Had no problem \"dressing down\" Michael in front of the employees of the Scranton branch. 6. Assigned Pam the plum job of designing a logo, just to put him in a more favorable light. 7. Blatantly lied to Pam about the email exchange between Ryan and Karen. (It was Karen who turned Ryan down, not the other way around.) Like so many folks in the business world, Ryan didn\'t earn his promotion through hard work and years of dedication to the company. All Ryan did was impress the CFO at his interview, show off his shiny new MBA, and leapfrog over other candidates. And because of that, Ryan is now the boss. However, I still think he has yet to make a sale. But that being said. I LOVE THIS GUY!!!! The character of Ryan is bringing a great new dynamic to Season Four. And I can\'t wait to be there when he falls back down to earth.

I absolutely LOVED when Michael yelled at that attorney, \"Where are the turtles!!!. He seemed to be down to his last thread, and he was amazing. My husband and I were rolling on the floor when he yelled that, then Dwight\'s \"Attention: we are missing a box of turtles, with pecans\" and the attorney trying to physically throw him out. It was an awesome moment in an awesome episode. I am so psyched for this year!

\"Of course we all know that getting turned down by Ryan is just the first step toward his massive downward spiral . . . :)\" Oops. I meant to say: \". . . RYAN getting turned down by PAM is just the first . . . etc. etc.\" For the 536th time I wish this blog page had an edit button. :) Elisa, I\'m sorry I didn\'t make it to the chat! What did you all discuss? Kevin, for some reason, the absurdity of the GPS/car gag was o.k. but the taking back of the gift basket was dreadful. I actually hated that part a lot and will fast forward it in future viewings. :) Matt? Martin? What are your thoughts?
-
Mathercize, here are some of my favorites: *Jealous Toby (who knew he had it in him?) *Andy\'s plaid trousers *Jim *Creed\'s hair *Kelly lying about being preggers to get a date *\"The machine knows!\" *Dwight trying to get clients back = getting Angela back *Ryan being put in his place by Pam/Jim. Buwhahahaha! Speaking of which, Elisa, I think you\'re right -- it was all of the above. He buys into the image of his new lifestyle just as much as Andy and Kevin do. Of course we all know that getting turned down by Ryan is just the first step toward his massive downward spiral . . . :)
-
martin, is that you? when did you change your name to rob? (melonie--missed u in the chat room! i loved the gps gag too!) spiff, that\'s funny, i can\'t wait to re-watch it now and look for that. also: one of my friends just told me that they made a total goof tonight, that andy actually calls jim \"john\" in the first half.
-
Thursday Kevin says part one of Dunder Mifflin Infinity might be the best half hour episode ever. I sooo rolled when Pam asked Toby if it was his way of congratulating them. There was so much stuff in that episode that longtime fans could latch onto and laugh about. I loved Michael\'s reaction to Jim and Pam and -- for one of the few times in the series -- Ryan had a great role to play in the episode. I am REALLY liking the dynamic of the young-upstart pushing the likes of Michael, Phyllis, Stanley, etc. Part Two was satisfying, though less so. It was a little over the top with the car thing and then taking the gift basket back. But it was nice to see Jim\'s talking head after Ryan was shot down in flames.
-
Who liked the episode? Tell me what you liked... cause I don\'t want to just be negative. It was all about plot, but just weird. I thought the conversation between Jim & Pam about the magic being gone was a hat tip to the fans/critics/podcast... Ah well, maybe a re-viewing will let help me to like it more. I wanted Michael to win someone back... that wouldn\'t have been unrealistic.
