Sounds like a pretty Jan-heavy episode, so this might be interesting. And seriously, Dwight's B&B? This is either going to be pure comedy gold or a horrible, horrible disaster. Let's hope for the former! From NBC.com: MONEY
9/8c TV14
10.18.2007 EASY
COME, EASY GO - As Jan (Melora Hardin) renovates the condo, Michael
(Golden Globe winner Steve Carell) confronts his growing debt every way
he can, which includes pressuring his employees for a loan. Pam (Jenna
Fischer) and Jim (John Krasinski) spend a night out on Dwight's (Rainn
Wilson) family farm, now a bed and breakfast. B.J. Novak, Ed Helms,
Leslie David Baker, Brian Baumgartner, Kate Flannery, Oscar Nunez,
Phyllis Smith, Paul Lieberstein, Mindy Kaling, Creed Bratton and Craig
Robinson also star.
EDIT: Remember, this is going to be the LAST hour-long episode in a good while (they only ordered five, and I'm guessing the last one will be the season finale). I guess we'll see next week whether or not we miss the 45 minute running time or not! I have a feeling that 21 minutes is going to seem a bit too short... wish we could hit the sweet spot of about 30 total minutes of show. Seems like it'd be just about perfect. Also, remember to join us in the TWSS CHAT room after the show.

OK, I know I\'m about a month late with this comment, but it has been mulling about in my brain, and I just watched the episode again...Angela tells Andy that he may ask her out to dinner, and one of her stipulations is \"no vegetables.\" Hasn\'t Angela let us know in the past she is a vegetarian? I know she has pasta when she is out to dinner with Dwight...is that all she eats? Hmmm.

I can\'t believe Stanley responded positively to a weight loss drug in drug rehab! And Michael’s ‘accents’ are hillarious!

You are perfectly right, \"easy come, easy go\"... I guess this is a general truth that we should all consider when it comes to money. How many people here have debts to pay? I know I do have my loan to deal with, I just started a debt negotiation process, this will allow me more financial flexibility. So if you have major projects, you should start thinking more seriously about handling money.

Hey Phil, thanks for the recommendation, I\\\'ll stick it in my queue :) On Andy\\\'s wardrobe - On one of the S3 DVD commentaries JK mentions how he loves Andy\\\'s rope bracelet and that his wardrobe is straight off Nantucket. I fully expect him to show up wearing a pair of Nantucket reds (pants) at some point. I forgot to mention in Launch Party that I loved the way he trilled the R in Shrute. I was trying to figure out what was in Dwight\\\'s room too, no luck. But I did spy a row of Dundies on the mantle in the living room.

FINALLY saw the episode! O.k., I apologize for the inevitable rambling nature of this post, but I\'m just going to list things as I think of them (or as the comments made me think of them.) I really liked it, it was definitely bordering on a Dramedy -- which happens to be my favorite genre of film, so yeah. Can\'t really resist any longer, I HAVE to talk about Andy\'s clothes. I love that his costuming niche is patterns. (i.e. a few weeks ago with his plaid trousers. Ha ha!) His orange tie and blue striped shirt were alarmingly fabulous. Speaking of costumes, I absolutely LOVED Mose\'s \'Pioneer\' ensemble. I\'ll bet the wardrobe supervisor has a great time with his costumes. The bedtime story was Harry Potter! Hooray! Oh my goodness, Indian food at the telemarketing job. Two of my favorite things at the same time. (Indian food and The Office.) I was really hoping we\'d see more of Dwight’s room. Jim and Pam as parents and Mose and Dwight are their children. \"Your turn.? Ha ha Irrigation room! Ha ha ha! Did they decorate for the B&B or was it always like that? LOVE the signs on the doors. Ha ha. Stanley responded positively to a weight loss drug! Ha ha! Michael’s ‘accents’ to try to get out of the sticky situation. Maybe he should start attending voice and dialect classes instead of improv. . . Darryl. Woofalicious! Darryl may ask me out for dinner. >(What, am I the only one with the soul of a >junior high-aged girl who just wanted to see them >kiss already?) Tracie, no, you definitely aren\'t. My friend and I were absolutely dying. It was a lot like a certain scene in A Room with a View if any of you have seen it. You wanted magic? You’ve got magic! I REALLY loved Pam just after that. I loved that she couldn\'t keep from smiling . . . So fabulous. :D I guess that\'s all for now. Must sleep.

I loved this weeks episode I just had one major problem and it actually isnt that major HOW wEIRD was that shot of michael and jan\\\'s leg\\\'s dangling idk it just seemed so out of place its not a documentarian tool that the office camera crew just dpesnt use and!!! the whole whomever thing?? except for kelly\\\'s \\\"ryan used me as an object\\\" i was laughing for like 3 mins and then i continued wit \\\"so whoevers name is toby, y dont u just stick a letter opener in your skull\\\" HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOHN KRASINSKI!

Lynne - if you like that kind of rapid-fire dialog in the grammar debate, (and you haven\'t seen it) you might try the movie Noises Off, sometime. Speaking of Michael and Jan, I wonder if Jan will want a baby at some point. I can see some funny lines with Michael having to run home because Jan is ovulating.

I love the michael and jan stuff. There is something really honest and dysfunctional and tender about their moment on the train. I also love how we see jim and dwight\'s relationship go through the motions. In earlier podcasts, you\'ve mentioned why jim and dwight act the way they do towards each other and I really get a sense that in lieu of a friendship, they have an understanding: Jim and Dwight do not hate each other and they don\'t like each other, but they must work in the same space. This could turn into a friendship or a hatred, but I like that it turns into an annoyance, which is way more entertaining. But I really do like the sentiment that they don\'t hate each other and that, deep down, jim doesn\'t really want to hurt dwight. - G

I loved this episode even though it had some melancholy moments. How apropos was it that we heard over and over \\\"just stick to the script\\\" with the writers\\\' strike looming? Was Steve breaking when Jim asked if Michael was a cocktail waitress on the side? There was a bit of a stifled smile there. I loved a lot of the physical comedy moments in this one. Michael trying to jump on the train just as it stops. Ryan shifting out of Darryl\\\'s way at the last second to brush something off his suit, like a subtle game of chicken. Andy\\\'s stance at Pam\\\'s desk. Pretty much everything Mose did. Powerpoint, powerpoint, powerpoint. It cracks me up that Ryan is the bell that makes Darryl salivate. I love scenes like the whoever/whomever debate, like the Afganistanis with Aids thing from Casino night. It must be so hard to bounce around the room like that rapid fire between characters without it sounding rehearsed.

The camera was all over the place in this episode, for instance: its zooms in on Michael\'s tie during his talk about his \"core,\" its focuses on a weird angle parrallel to the train of just michael & jan\'s shoes, and the part I love the most... when the camera just focused on Stanley\'s voice on the phone...very season 2! Also, I think this episode re-assured me that jan being with Michael wasn\'t a complete result of a mental breakdown. After the third season I think we were led to believe that: the boob job, all that internet shopping? Even at the start of season 3 when in Fun Run Jan claims Michael as \"hers\" after Pam sees him naked - but after she talked to Michael on the train, she actually seemed to have a rational reason why she likes him/wants to be with him. Not that someone needs to give a reason to want to be with Michael.... hahaha (yes they do).....

I\'m with Megan in not liking this episode at first. I\'m telling my wife this is the worst since Phyllis\'s wedding when Michael\'s behavior was unwatchable. But the human interest parts with Dwight, Michael and Jan blew me away by the end. (and Jim\'s love for Pam too) Also agree with Em about Angela on the farm. I can\'t picture someone this hygenic and pristine to stay out there. But love with bigfoot probably made it worthwhile. I could also do with just imagining what the farm looks like. Felt a little like Blair Witch Project to me.

Wow, this episode is in my top five of all time definitely. I think all the characters really had a chance to shine and they all did! Jim redeemed himself, Ryan showed that he has a heart (I loved him in this episode whereas I hated him in all previous episodes this season) Michael\'s second job showed us a great side of Michael, the Michael that IS what he wants to be. Jan redeemed herself in the end and it was just enough Creed (it seems that at times he\'s overused and at times he\'s underused) I\'m glad to see the old Dwight back - hope he\'s up for the fight thanks to Jim\'s inspirational speech. JAM: I was so glad to see Jim pluck up and kiss Pam in this episode, I\'ve been wondering so far, \"Hasn\'t he loved her for at least 4 years now?\" because even if they are dating, he really doesn\'t let on that he feels more than friendship towards her, even though we know he does. It kind of felt like he was taking this relationship for granted. Way to go Jim in this episode! I agree with what\'s been said in the podcasts about how he\'s been a bit of an anti-hero so far but tonight it was great to see him and Pam trying to help out their fellow office couples. Yeah, I loved this episode.

It wasn\\\'t the funniest episode ever. But a lot of the episodes aren\\\'t meant to be non stop laughs, like Booze Cruise. This was the first episode of this season where I thought I might be watching a documentary and not a semi humorous sitcom. I was not a big fan of the Beets Motel storyline, but it had an important set up for the ending. I could have lived without the Kelly and Darryl plot, but that\\\'s important to getting Kelly to be less annoying, so maybe it will work out. Michael and Jan talked like adults at the end. I didn\\\'t really like Michael until the last five minutes, although I did like his interactions with other employees at the call center. I\\\'m glad they cut down on the Michael Screams Bit this episode. Overall, I\\\'m definitely looking forward to the return of the twenty minute episodes. * Jim and Pam kissed in the office. They weren\\\'t boring. Never, ever break them up, writers. * Jim talked about his undying love for Pam. His almost creepy undying love for Pam. But it was...reassuring? To be honest I wasn\\\'t sure, when he walked to her desk, if he was going to kiss her or kill her. * Dwight and Jim bonding moments are always a plus. * Garbage the cat came back. * Andy, Andy, Andy. Stick to the singing. Although moon walking and power stances aren\\\'t bad. * Whomever, whoever, stick a letter opener in your skull

Don\'t have a lot of time to post this AM due to a deadline. But did anyone else notice how much Botox Melora Hardin has had in her forehead? It was as stony as Mt. Rushmore, man. Liked the epidsode overall especially making what could be a very sappy moment into typical dry Office stuff. Jim conducted himself well too.
-
Loved the episode! In the farm scenes, I kept trying to picture Angela at the farm. I couldn\'t see her rigid self comfortable there--too many rustic elements for someone who dresses herself in outfits intended for large Colonial dolls. Maybe they spent more time at her place.
-
Loved this episode, and it\'s my favorite episode in quite some time. We really got to see some development between various relationships on the show, notably Jim/Dwight and Jan/Michael. They toned down Ryan a bit this episode, and really gave us a solid reminder of why we all liked Jim so much in the first place. Of course, following up the Jim/Dwight stairwell scene with Dwight shoving his stuff off the desk was the icing on the cake. I\'m glad that the Farm stuff was kept to a minimum. I really don\'t like scenes that make Dwight into a caricature, and it was handled well without being overdone. Interesting developments between Daryl and Kelly. I liked her talking head about how complicated he is. All in all, a major step forward from the other season 4 episodes so far.
-
Yes, this episode was so different and sometimes hard to recognize. I liked much of it but it was all over the place. I did not love farm stuff. Too silly. I agree with someone in the chatroom that it is much more interesting to know and learn about Dwight\'s wacky life and imagine it than actually see it. I also think Dwight and Angela\'s relationship is so interesting for what we don\'t see. And what about Michael? I really believed he was off to improv class and then to see him at his other job so vulnerable. I loved that.
-
I was laughing every time Mose was onscreen, although I probably could have done without seeing him on the potty. I\'ve always suspected that Dwight is on the autistic spectrum, but Mose may actually be feral. I loved Jim\'s speech about the differences between how he imagined his first night away with Pam and the reality, with Pam in the background in yellow gloves, trying to block out the smell of manure. Dwight\'s face in the scene on the stairwell broke my heart. And it was sweet how concerned about him Pam throughout the episode. It was good to see him revived to his regular self by the end of the show. Hm... there was another part that made me about die of happiness... gee, what was that again? :-) (What, am I the only one with the soul of a junior high-aged girl who just wanted to see them kiss already?)
-
Wow. This was such a good episode. I\'ve enjoyed every single one so far, but this one was so far above the others. Nice Jim returned in full force, Pam was as cute as ever, Mose was... well, Mose. I totally would have gone to see Scrantonicity 2, poor Kevin. (Say, do you think Mose replaced Kevin in Scrantonicity?! Hmmm...) Mose\'s running with the car was creepy and so perfect, as was the manure fight. The open-door out house, and creepy staring was perhaps too much. Actually, I think I liked the creepy staring. Poor, poor Dwight. He was so sad holding the cherub figurine crying like a wookie... I just feel so bad for him. And Angela has sleep apnea? Who knew? (My dad has one of those mask things.) Ryan spends a lot of time in Scranton. I\'m just sayin\'... I liked his feeble attempt to win over his \"favorite\" branch office. He\'s such a tool. The talk Michael and Jan had at the end was heart warming. As was Jim\'s little talk with Dwight. I think this show is best when it\'s quiet and realistic. The craziness is a lot of fun too, but he quiet moments are when they let the heart of the show, uhm... show. And it\'s got a lot of heart. Michael finally had coworkers that wanted to hang out with him, but he couldn\'t. It\'s so sad. I think I would have been chief of surgery back home, too. If I had a \"back home\"... Or a cowboy! And he\'s writing a movie, a spy thriller... Nice throwback to the classic \"Threat Level: Midnight\" Okay, I\'m rambling, right? I\'ve got so much more to say though! I\'ll come back later, maybe. Great episode!

Jan\'s talking out the realization, (with Oscar\'s help on the phone) that Michael was broke, led to humiliation for Michael. Though he brought all this on himself, I really felt for him in his embarrasment and humiliation. Never expected this level of depth in a romantic comedy.
-
I loved this episode! Grammar nerd that I am, I loved the whoever / whomever discussion. I also enjoyed the contrast between the Scrantonites yawning after their rough nights and Ryan revved up on Red Bull. The biggest laugh out loud moment for me had to be Jan throwing her keys at Oscar! Dwight\'s chewbacca moaning was heartbreaking. I was really worried at the end that Dwight was going to call corporate or Staples to get a new job, but was delighted to see him snap back to his desk-barricading, paper-selling self. This was indeed the episode of redemption for Michael and Jim, and Oscar was such a sweetheart, he gets a free pass if he acts like a jerk in an upcoming episode. Also, I hope at this year\'s Beach Day, Kevin walks on the coals and confronts everyone for not going to his battle of the bands. (Well, I guess he already did that at the office...) Scrantonicity II?!? Jim and Pam could have stayed at Schrute Farms the next night.
-
chalk me up for \\\'best episode ever\\\'... at least here on thursday night i\\\'m thinking so. By far the best this season, some brilliant writing (fast paced whom/who especially). AND IT WASN\\\'T ALL PLOT DRIVEN... and ryan was a small part of it and not a jerkface. That\\\'s probably the least coherent way of saying it... but, my point is, WELL DONE, WRITERS.

Thought the snappy grammar give-and-take, on whoever and whomever, in the conference room was funny. Was expecting Kelly to rub Darrel in Ryan\'s face at some point this season. Seeing her kiss Darrel in the conference room was sooner than I expected and pretty funny. Being perplexed by a guy who said just what he thought was great too. How novel. As much as I love Jim and Pam, I thought their teasing Michael, that they were available tonight only, was a bit cruel. Hated everything on the farm. Just too weird, plus Dwight moaning in the stairwell is enough to get his pain - don\'t need him moaning late at night in a weird farmhouse. Seeing Michael act like his employees do, when he was in the night-job conference room, was cute. I assumed Angela\'s rejecting the cat from Dwight not only was to not encourage him but also because this is not her type of frilly house cat. Regardless of any interest in Andy\'s overtures, I can\'t see her going for this type of cat. You\'ve talked on the podcast about Michael getting some redemption. I thought the writers did a good job of it through Jan\'s words to him. Some really touching moments in this episode including the staff\'s concern to help Michael with him money problems. No one took advantage and made a joke out of it (including Jim). Michael \"declaring\" bankruptcy was my laugh out loud moment.
-
Wow. Game is Desert Island, you can take five episodes. This is my number one. I was so relieved/surprised by this episode. I was worried it was going to be too much time away from the office, too little jim and pam, and too much absurdity. Boy was I wrong! First, the Jim and Pam scenes were adorable... Jim seemed human, likeable this episode. More on that later... Dwight= aww... Angela and Andy.. Wow, just not doing it for me. I agree with Pam! Michael and Jan... I really liked the end of the episode. I thought it was a good mix of sweet and salty... and I was glad Jan finally acknowledged what Michael did for her... More thoughts later though. Honestly, who didn\\\'t love the Michael Streep cold opening?
-
That was both pretty funny and pretty somber at the same time. I like how the visit to Schrute Farm, the discussion about who and whom and Jan treating Oscar like a valet countered nicely with Jim consoling Dwight in the stairwell, the bittersweetness of Michael\'s second job and the heart to heart between Michael and Jan. Not the funniest, but definitely the strongest so far this season. Matt, after this ep, I hope you no longer think of Jim as a dick. That was pretty noble of him, actually.

It seems as if there\'s going to be not so much in-office action this week, as much as out of office... Although I do think the idea sounds intriquing of JAM on a Bed and Breakfast (Beets Benedict? Yum!), I\'m kind of dissapointed with the constant pull away from the office... Hopefully I\'m wrong, and the time will be spent well.
