From Wikipedia: THE DELIVERY | 3.4.10 Pam's contractions begin but she and Jim are determined to wait it out as long as possible so they can have more time at the hospital. Meanwhile the rest of the office tries to distract Pam from the pain with food and entertainment. Michael anxiously waits for Pam and Jim's baby, Cecilia, to be born. Back at the office, Erin makes Andy jealous when she has lunch with Kevin. ------------- Well, here it is-- the second huge JAM episode of season six. The Office already milked much of this baby/delivery humor last season in "Baby Shower," so it'll be interesting to see what they can do with a very similar plotline tonight. Unfortunately, I have parent/teacher conferences tonight and will not be able to watch the episode live (or participate in the chatroom discussion). Feel free to stop by, though, and join other TWSS listeners in the chatroom if you'd like. Also, make sure you leave your comments below-- I have a feeling this could be a really love it or hate it sort of situation.

I waited to see if anyone would comment on the things that really got to me, but it must have just been me. I thought it was so funny when Micheal walked into the delivery room and came out and said \"that kid is going to have alot of hair\" I can only assume that Pam is sporting a 70\'s due down under(and I don\'t mean Australia). Also, to stimulate Pam\'s nipples you have to flick them. I\'ll have to remember that in case she is ever single again. The only thing they left out was a hospital gown butt shot, but I dream. I still say the baby is going to look like that dude in NY who tried to get Pam to stay with the program. I LIKED IT!

I loved this episode...everything but the bizarre Dwight stuff going on. This was a particularly special episode for me because I found out I was pregnant several weeks after the season finale last year. Somehow (not sure how the timing worked out) I ended up having my baby before Pam, and I got to watch The Delivery while I held my 5 day old newborn! Because of this, my experience was fresh in my mind. I cannot tell you how true those new parent emotions ring. This is my second child, but you still have the same fears, worries, and freakouts. Thankfully, I had great nurses and my own room though! I saw the \"nursing the wrong baby\" gag coming a mile away. If you haven\'t seen them already, there are some great blogs out about this episode from breastfeeding advocates. A lot of the online breastfeeding communities thought this was a great episode that showed very realistically the struggles new parents go through. I\'m not going to say it was the best or funniest episode ever, but it was a good episode that they had to have, since they went down the baby road.

Thanks Kaiser... re: Dwight\'s weird reaction right at the end...embarrassed to admit I didn\'t even SEE that before I read Dave J\'s comments. Ugh. It was creepy. \"I feel sick\"....?? What does everybody think THAT was about? The idea of having a contract to make a baby? That his life hasn\'t turned out as he intended it? And then saying ominously to Jim and Pam \"I\'ll be out of your hair in a couple of days...\" WHat\'s THAT about? It sounds suicidal. I just hope this is one of those many red herrings that the Office writers give us...like Oscar and Andy or Oscar and Matt... ;)

Entertaining episode, but I had a few problems. First, Dwight treated the chick from the wedding like a two-bit hooker, so now we\'re supposed to believe that not only is Dwight now re-interested in her apparently because she can cook, but she is now re-interested in him after witnessing him eradicating a mold issue? No freaking way. Also, who the heck were Dwight\'s friends? They could\'ve brought back the best friend from the company picnic, or at least referenced the random dudes as paintball buddies, but the writers didn\'t and I found it lazy. On the other hand, Angela is a nut job and that whole plot line was entirely believable and somewhat amusing. Dwight-and-Angela is tired, but that relationship just makes sense. Other observations: Michael was extremely cute and likable throughout, he always does well with babies, and I thought the cupid stuff was light-hearted and although a bit of a throw-away, true to the character. Andy finally sacked up so Kevin should be happy (our Kevin of course). I\'m a little tired of Office Kevin getting crapped on in the romance department. The fat-guy needs a date angle is so old and somewhat insulting for those of us with a few extra inches around the waistline. I\'d almost prefer Kevin as an eunuch. Finally, the new mom and dad... The breast feeding snafu was funny, Jim explaining that 6 minutes was a little different (but not really) than 5 to 7 minutes was my favorite line, and the frustrated nurse was probably the best performance of the entire 44 minutes. The timing of the episode was piss-poor. They completely dropped the Sabre stuff to have another \"very special episode\" just weeks after the wedding. This should have been the first episode of next season, something they could\'ve and should\'ve hyped all offseason. Overall, it was an okay episode highlighted by a few good moments, but I had plenty of things to be aggravated with.

The baby got my middle name! The baby got my middle name! I\'ve been noticing a gaping hole in my life. Sometimes I wake up cradling a ghourd. (And most nights my Dwight bobblehead.) This is just what I needed to feel complete. The series can end right now! (Well, if the writing continues like this, it might just happen. I didn\'t hate the episode, just... The baby got my name!!! I really don\'t want to say anything bad.)

I suppose if the office is supposed to be an awkardly funny slice-of-life about the workplace, then this episode was an epic fail. BUT, if you like ridiculous, over-the-top nonsense it was a winner. The Dwight stuff had me in stitches and I about died when they showed him getting out of Jim & Pam\'s bed in all his \"commando\" glory. Oh if they only knew! Fun episode despite the baby stuff. I SO hope Dwight hooks up with Pam\'s best friend, Isabelle or whatever her name is. Not because I\'m a romantic but because I love the idea of JAM being tortured by him in both their professional and private lives. They deserve it.

I think some episodes get so overhyped and we look forward to them so much that the only thing that could happen is disappoint us, the wedding is a great example of this, with that said, I loved this episode. I especially loved the pre-hospital stuff. The typical sitcom thing to do is to deliver the baby at the office, how many shows has honestly had a baby delivered at a hospital? Very few that I can think of, all of them have been delivered in cars, apartments, in trapped elevators. I was seriously worried and concered about a cheesy in office baby delivery, which would probably have been done by Creed, the tension was great. Michael throwing the keys was hilarious, breast feeding the wrong baby made me laugh out loud to no end. While no episode would have made everyone happy, I\'m so glad this episode made me happy.

I absolutely loved this episode but it made me extremely nervous for future episodes. I really hope that hold-it-in Pam was strictly for comedy reasons and isn\'t going to translate into post-partem depression Pam with a season finale of her going into therapy or something. Not that that isn\'t realistic and doesn\'t happen to people, but it would have to be written quite well to gain my approval. Hopefully Pam\'s successful latching towards the end means peace and an end to all the nervous new parent freak out and potentially way darker possibilities that could follow. I\'m pretty positive that Dwight is going to end up hooking back up with Pam\'s sister. I\'m not sure how everyone missed that at the end of the episode when Angela asks Dwight how he wants to celebrate and he pauses, and then basically ignores Angela\'s question. Wrong baby gag? Too much for me. Made me feel a little queasy. That is another couple\'s child that was drinking Pam\'s milk. Gross. Also, I have to be honest, when Jim and Pam realized that they had the wrong child, my mind went to a really dark place that thought, \"My God, I hope it wasn\'t their child that was crying and it had died or something.\" Yes, totally unlikely and way too dark for The Office, but I was concerned. However, Pam\'s little slip, \"When I was feeding their baby,\" and the quick little cut to the other couple clearly a little confused and then Jim\'s poor, but effective, covering laughter did make me laugh. Matt and Kevin, please quell my nervousness for a potentially extremely dark end to season six. Dwight and Angela with a baby coming but Dwight dating Pam\'s sister. A love triangle I don\'t need. Pam experiencing PPD: too dark. Kevin being sent into a spiraling depression after Erin denies him, don\'t need it. Don\'t mean to sound nitpicky; loved this episode. Just hope the writers choose a brighter end to a pretty high class season than a spiraling depression.

I didn\'t find any of it believable. Most first-time parents make the mistake of getting to the hospital too early, out of worry. Pam wants to stay an extra day to get some rest? Hospitals are notorious places for not getting any sleep. A male lactation coach? Not bloody likely. And we have a repeat of the Meredith-in-the-hospital episode where EVERYONE in the office (except Dwight, of course) visits them AT THE SAME TIME. It\'s clear that most TV birth events are written by people who\'ve never been through it themselves. I thought it was all pretty ridiculous.

Wow...it is so interesting seeing what everybody has to say about the baby episodes, because I thought it would be a giant love-in. I thought they were absolutely pitch-perfect much of the time. I\'m especially surprised to disagree with Kaiser Soje, whose opinion I really respect! Among my favourite moments... The cold open!! Has there ever been a better one - the trifecta of a relationship with the main plot line, character-based humor (goat fungus!), and the potential introduction of a new plot line...the dwangela spawn. Wowee! Dwight and Angela negotiating the baby contract; \"Hereinafter referred to as Morpheus.\" (Needless to say the individual clauses are irrelevant because the contract itself is unenforceable. That\'s what three years in law school gets you...) Michael\'s idea of doing the reverse of the ten ways to induce labor; \"Stick spicy food up her butt.\" Jim freaking out before he convinces Pam to go to the hospital; both uncharacteristic and completely believable. Dwight’s escort service and Dwight’s throwing the sword out the window as the cop calls out, “Don’t’ make this difficult, Dwight.” Michael’s excuse for parking in an ambulance spot, “Dunder Mifflin, it\'s OK.” “I have to go wash my eyes.” Jim diapering Angela’s cat. “I am going to fill that empty hole in your body with another person.” And I just loved loved loved everything to do with the hospital and caring for the baby; it was so touching, funny, and bang-on factually. For instance, having the baby spend the first night in the nursery? It might be different in different hospitals, but mine offers it. Difficulty swaddling the baby – yep, it’s really tough, because they sure do squirm. The obsession with breast feeding? Absolutely. You feel inadequate if you can’t \"get it\" right away. Nipple confusion, latching, self-esteem, socialize with the other babies…I laughed out loud. We all read too much. And the male lactation consultant? very funny; Jim’s reaction...priceless. Finally, the big comic payoff, taking the wrong baby – I might have been the only person who didn’t see that coming, but it was hilarious, up there with the Dick Van Dyke Show where Rob and Laura were convinced they brought home the wrong baby... Yep. I loved this one end to end. Of course my own birthing memories might have something to do with it, and there\'s no question those were influenced by a heavy dose of morphine ;) I hope more people post because I can\'t wait to hear what everybody thinks! And of course I can\'t wait for the podcast, by the two most gifted podcasters in Western Hemisphere...

Guys, I am going to be interested to see where you fall on this episode. While mixed for me I thought it had enough great moments to make it a winner. Kevin\'s ultrafeast was hysterical and just kept me laughing out loud. Feeding the other womans baby was also really really funny. You could also see a real directorial style difference as the 2nd half was better than the first for me. Harold Ramis just has a real comedic sense of timing that shows through the episode. The whole hospital portion was spot on and rang very true. One of my favorite moments was Dwights seemingly impromptu remodeling of Pam and Jim\'s kitchen. Sweet, funny and weird all at once it was just a great moment especially Jim and Pam\'s reaction when they got home. The downside for me was Pam\'s reluctance to even go to the hospital as she was frightened. That never rang true for me as Pam would never risk having the baby at the office like that and it just seemed so contrived. All in all it was a great hour of tv. Now can we please get this baby thing behind us and get back to our regular programming. lol

This felt like 35 minutes of material squeezed into an hour. I enjoyed the first half. NBC doesn\'t do it anymore, but this would have been a perfect 40-minute episode, with the birth and a quick wrap-up. I think it was Matt who said that this episode could be overkill with the wedding episode so recent. I agree with that. Maybe the birth should have been left till May or next season. It was great to see Erin and the \'Nard Dog (or was it Walter Jr.?) finally get together. But, come on, Erin, how would Andy be in any kind of position to fire anyone? The whole Erin/Kevin plot was obvious padding. And it looks like we may be re-rehashing the Dwight/Angela relationship. Yipee! Through most of the last half of the show, I kept thinking \"We could be watching \'30 Rock\' right now!\" I was lukewarm about Jo and the Sabre takeover. \"The Office\" may not have jumped the shark quite yet, but it has definitely strapped on the skis and life vest. I love the podcast and I\'m looking forward to your take on it in the coming week. One more thing: Who didn\'t see the whole baby mix-up scenario coming down Broadway? That seems too sitcomy for this show.

Great episode. One of the best I\'ve seen in a while. Watched it with some first-time Office watchers, and they loved it. @Mel - It is the same actress from earlier in the season. @everyone - what the hell. This is really starting to piss me off, and I can\'t believe no one else has seen (or at least mentioned it). The IT guy that was recently introduced has become a slightly recurring character (much like sea monster, from the warehouse). However, this is not what angers me. The first nitpick I have, is that they got rid of the Sikh IT guy. What was wrong with him? Where\'d he go? No mention? Okay, fine. New company, new IT guy. Let\'s assume that. What in the HELL are the casting people thinking??? This new IT guy is the same guy that Pam talked to in Job Fair (Season 4, Episode 13). He was recruiting for someone in graphic design. Maybe the writers want us to assume he was canned and had to resort to IT to survive? Buh. That\'s my rant.

I liked seeing Jim frazzled, and I really liked Pam\'s face after Phyllis offers to do her \"Molly Ringwald trick,\" and Ryan\'s outfit for his poetry reading? Nothing short of amazing. For a one hour episode though, I thought it was a little light on the funny. I think the writers went for \"lighter\" jokes in this episode, just like I think they did with the wedding episode. You guys think this as well?

Worst. Episode. Ever. Kevin is the only redeeming part of the whole episode. Second breakfast, lunch, second lunch and first dinner. Thank you Kevin. Frantic Jim was great, but otherwise how many times can we see this guy being completely inept. Come on Jim, grow a pair!
-
I have to admit I really like parts of this episode. However, I did feel like they made Michael too much of a jerk all the way through without the usual redeeming moments. Jim was too cute as new dad and I even regained my love for Pam. I loved the scene with Dwight destroying the kitchen. When Dwight and Angela were in the break room of the office I was kinda happy they were getting back together but it ended sort of weirdly. All in all a pretty funny episode and the baby is so cute.
-
I was disappointed that People magazine published all of the baby info before the episode aired but didn\'t put a spoiler warning. Kind of sucked the anticipation out of the show, knowing everything beforehand. Best part of the show was when Dwight\'s got pulled over \"Don\'t make this anymore difficult, Dwight! \" He must do that a lot! Just an FYI though, I had a baby two years ago and the hospital will absolutely keep the baby in the nursery overnight. They encourage it, so that the parents can rest. It\'s very commonplace now.
-
I was disappointed by these two episodes. They had some funny moments, but it seemed to me the writers didn\'t have much to do with the baby delivery theme and came up with a bunch of unbelievable situations. Pam is holding off going to the hospital because of one more day of rest? Her water broke and she still doesn\'t wanna go to the hospital? Would Jim and Pam actually let Michael drive them to the hospital? All co-workers are at the hospital, after midnight, waiting for the birth? By my experience with hospitals, I think it\'s extremely unlikely the staff would offer to take the baby to the nursery for the night (which Jim and Pam agree to after a while). In the several instances I witnessed (our daughter, my nieces, friend\'s kids, etc), the baby was always in the company of at least one of the parents. And, evidence of non-inspired writing: when Jim picked up the wrong baby I started begging the show not to go there. I thought they wouldn\'t have the guts to go down to that level of comedy. BUT THEY DID!! I DVR\'ed this time so I didn\'t have the opportunity to go the TWSS chat room. But I\'m pretty sure everybody in there must have seen it coming, right at the moment sleepy Jim picked up the baby!
-
Words cannot express how relieved I am that they didn\'t have the baby in the office. And despite how annoyed I was at Pam refusing to go to hospital even though her freaking water broke, this episode was much better than I expected it to be. Krasinski and Pam (forget the actress\' name) were excellent, really believable. Although I do NOT want to go through the whole damn thing again with Dwight and Angela, please god no. Hook them up, sure, but please no more babies. Why is Ryan dressing weird lately? Was his watch plastic? I feel so old not knowing what trend they are making fun of.
-
Gotta disagree with a little detail. After my son was born, they offered to keep him in the nursery the first night (and every night) so we could rest. So that rang true to me (as an aside, people should TOTALLY do that; you don\'t know tired until your first night at home with a newborn). Not sure how I felt about the rest of the episode though. It had good moments and some \"meh\" moments. Gotta say I loved Dwight taking apart Jim & Pam\'s kitchen, but why didn\'t anyone notice he wasn\'t at work the next day, even Dwight? Remember how anal Dwight was about his perfect attendence (as shown in Jim\'s prank about 2 years ago)? Can\'t wait for the podcast though.
-
Wow. I almost can\'t believe how much I loved this episode. The first half was better than the second one, but both were definitely an improvement over much of the season. Frazzled Jim was wonderfully true to the character. I wouldn\'t have thought the Dwight/Angela stuff would work, but somehow it did. And Andy... Andy pulled off the most spectacularly successful failure in history. And points to Ellie Kemper, I believed the tears in that scene. Easily one of the best episodes of the season.
-
This gave me joy. I loved the way Jim and Pam came off they were very endearing. I loved Pam\'s insecurity when she was stalling and broke down with fear. Also Jim\'s stress was endearing as a new dad, his acting was superb! The Dwight and Angela thing came from left field though, I thought we had gotten past this wierd and tired relationship. How can they breath new life into it? \"I have to go wash my eyes!!!\"
