So after saying on episode #3 that the ratings were apparently "good enough," we get this article today in the NEW YORK POST with writer Adam Buckman saying that "The Office" is "doomed" because of low ratings.
From the article: THE better it gets, the lower its ratings go. With the new fall season only a few weeks old, “The Office? is fast becoming the “Arrested Development? of NBC - which is not good news for either the show or the network. What’s the problem? Like “Arrested Development,? “The Office? is proving to be too good to be popular. My advice to the show’s fans: Enjoy “The Office? while you can, before NBC discovers it’s not working and yanks it.Granted, the NYP is no bastion of great journalism, and this guy has no say in what NBC will or won't do, and I know I should keep a positive outlook, but it's just not nice to see something like this in print.

I have been thinking about what the guy said and it makes sense. The only thing is that NBC is in need of ratings and The Office has the potential to bloom unlike Fox which had 24 and American Idol to support it. The reporter makes a point though and also I think NBC knows that My Name is Earl and The Office work really well together.

I\'m remaining optimistic right now. As much as it pains me to read this article, I think some of it is true...I was pretty sure that The Office would lose some of its viewers after the season 3 premiere. Heck, I almost stopped watching. But I stuck with it, sure that it would get better. And the last two episodes were testaments that The Office is still one of the best shows on TV. I watched the first episode of Ugly Betty (I DVR\'d it, of course, so that I could support The Office) and I wasn\'t impressed. After all the good reviews I had read about the show, I found it very very disappointing. I don\'t think I\'ll watch it again. And on Jenna\'s MySpace page, she said that they were all contracted for \"a very long time.\" I don\'t know how much truth there is behind this, since NBC can pull a show at any given minute...but this still gives me hope. Anyway, enough from me. :D I\'m off to listen to the latest podcast...Thanks again for putting out such a great show to listen to here at work!
