In her "The Watcher" column in the Chicago Tribune, columnist Maureen Ryan has gone all "Comic Book Guy" and declaired JOB FAIR to be the "worst episode ever." of THE OFFICE. Now, you've heard out take in the podcast. I agree with a lot of what she says, but also think she's going a bit too far. Still, to each their own. Scroll down to the bottom of the article for a summary of Steve Carell's interview with PLAYBOY.

Compared to the episode \"did i stutter\" \"job fair\" was a great episode. personally, i\'m willing to overlook little things like \"oh well h&r block never came to a job fair at my high school\" if it serves to further the plot. i think once you start expecting perfection from every episode, you\'re going to be too critical and you won\'t enjoy the show as much. as far as all the programs the graphic design guy listed, it\'s not unrealistic for high schoolers to know how to use those programs. when i was a senior in high school a few years ago, i took a class called digital design where we used photoshop, flash etc. but we also received licenses for programs like after effect and such. through that class and my own furthered interest in the subject, i am familiar with many of the programs the guy listed. so i don\'t think that\'s a fair knock on the episode. basically to summarize my point, it\'s incredibly hard for t.v. shows to be perfect reflections of real life, and with shows like the office, that shouldn\'t be the expectation. just enjoy the show for what it gives you at face value.

Worst episode ever? What is in her crack pipe? (I guess crack.) The Office is a great comedy, but people who watch the show understand that it is not all comedy all the time. In fact we like the some of the depth and character development to compliment the greatness of an overall outstanding comedy. I enjoyed the watching Jim get a win, and Andy\'s \'blisties\' and seeing the side of Michael that believes it is uncool to compliment someone to their face. I think this was a set up for a great season closer.

Although I agree to a point--the episode wasn\'t great--A lot of the comments seem to be based on the episode being antithetical to what the characters are supposed to be like (in her mind). She\'s shocked that Michael is an ass in pretty much every other episode. She doesn\'t think Jim is (or ever was) a slacker, but is instead a guy who likes his job and cares about it.

I\'m a computer artist and I have to say just because Pam took some drawing classes at community college and maybe used a shareware program to do that simple animation for Local Ad, that doesn\'t mean she knows professional applications like After Effects or Illustrator. So...nitpick solved. She certainly might have mentioned what she DID know, but it seemed like she was disappointed and intimidated by that point after hearing the bad news from the graphics guy.
