THE SEARCH | 02.03.11 W: Michael Spiller D: Brent Forrester
Jim gets an emergency phone call from Helene (Linda Purl), forcing him to leave Michael at a gas station bathroom. This leads Holly, Erin, and Dwight on a search for the whereabouts of Michael. A captioning contest starts in the office over Pam's artwork, which seems to offend Gabe. --- Nothing much to say about this one, other than it reminds me of the classic episode of Seinfeld where Kramer is "lost" in NYC and Jerry has to go and find him (cue Daniel Day Lewis in LAST OF THE MOHICANS quote...). Glad to see Gabe mentioned prominently in the episode summary, as he seems to have had little to do for the last few episodes. I'm also kind of rubbing my eyes in disbelief as Andy isn't mentioned ONCE! Can it be? No Andy in the A or B plots? Unthinkable :) As always, post your thoughts and comments on the episode in the space below. Also, join Kevin and me in the TWSS Chatroom during and after the show tonight. This was an OK episode, I suppose. The Cold Open was boring after the first 15 seconds. I have to say that I'm liking Aaron as the almost new Michael, what with her "perfect 40" and all. Really? Michael gets lost in a town he's lived in for 40 something years? I don't buy it. I HATE JIM AND PAM! I mean, it's great that they're together and all, but let's just move on. Every time there's a Jim/Pam interaction I just shake my head. Anyways, what's with these stupid plot contrivances? Helene locks CC in the car. Okay, great. And Jim needs to go there why? What is he going to do that a mechanic can't? I think the B plot of the caption contest worked out well. It was funny to hear all of them but I was waiting for some sort of wierd one from Creed or something. Those puppies were adorable. I had maybe one or two laugh out loud moments but the sad part is that one of them was in my imagination. The first one was when the camera panned down to Creed's picture. The second one was when Holly is walking up on the roof with Aaron behind her, and I was thinking 'No, they wouldn't! Are they really going to have Aaron push Holly off of the roof?' I was glad and, secretly, sad they didn't go that route. I can't wait for when Toby comes back. I'm sensing some sort of punch or something from Michael for making Holly leave. It really seems like they're setting this up to be Andy and Darryl for Season 8, but I relaly just don't like either of them anymore. All in all, I guess I'll stay tuned for the new episode, but no promises on Season 8. Which will suck.

This episode (along with several leading up to and following it) proves that this show needs to end. It's not even ending on a high note at this point, it would just be ending before it got embarrassing. Obviously I am an Office fan, but the writing is getting silly and the characters are contradicting themselves or repeating past gags at this point. The Michael storyline had so many holes in it and just didn't seem that funny. Holly's 180 degree turn from "we aren't going to be together" to "we are perfect for each other" wasn't believable, because it just wasn't developed enough. The people at the office was mildly funny, but it just seemed like it was trying too hard and again- it's something we have seen before. People entertaining themselves in the Office not doing work because Michael is gone. And while things like "Office Olympics" seemed like something I would buy into to entertain myself in a boring work place, making fun of one guy with really lame jokes for several hours does not. It was immature and didn't seem like it would be entertaining for any more than 30 minutes at the most. I am definitely going to stop watching when Steve Carrell leaves and if the producers, writers etc knew what was good for their reputations they would call it quits too.

Is it too late to start calling Michael/Holly Molly? The Mollyness of this episode really straddled the line of how much is too much. The final shot of the two of them swapping spit was probably tipping it in the direction of a little too much. I found the caption storyline quite enjoyable. Gabe has always seemed a candidate for the Finer than Finer Things Club, and this episode proved just how douchey that quality it is. I definitely did not mind the Gabe-hate. I am a little perturbed that the last few episodes have followed a theme of dealing with as little Jim as possible. Are the writers reaching a point in which they no longer need Krasinski? I wouldn't be surprised if Krasinski follows Carrell in becoming the next major player to leave the show.

Since some commenters think Gabe doesn't deserve any bad treatment, Matt will probably think so too, I fell compelled to explain why he deserves it. Nobody raged on Gabe just the shity Sabre printers and he had to make all these gay ass rules that ruins everyones fun. It seems like something Dwight would do, although he would probably shut down the game in general. So ya I would try to get some revenge to.

What has Gabe done to everybody in the office to deserve being made fun? Didn't he just throw a Glee viewing party for them? Besides this, i did enjoy the episode with Michael and Holly once again showing how perfect they are for each other. One more thing, what in the world happen to the camera man that was with michael in the first place. He wasn't on the roof top when Holly found him. Maybe he was caught in a dark ally by the Scranton Strangler???

Michael Scott meets Scranton, Pa! He's lived there his entire life, has spent a good portion of it having to drive out and do sales calls, yet still gets lost less than 10 minutes from the office. Sounds like a dumb idea? How about an entire episode based on it, does that sound better? Nope, didn't to me either. Holly the hound dog did a good job of showing her moronic idiocy this episode as well. Perhaps they are meant for each other, they can both get lost a block from home, have a mediocre adventure, then go to the top of the nearest tall building to make some vein attempt at a lame joke, while living happily ever after! In other words, the episode freakin' sucked! These feel like the end of the show, not the end of Micheal Scott. If Steve can't even stay around till the end of the season, screw him, kill his and hollys ass' off and move on with the show! The best part of the episode was the phone call between Pam and Dwight, when he says, "...of course I'm going to get those things for you..." That made me smile, I like the interaction between those two. Pams character seems to be going through a good change, almost the Pam of old. Gabe... *shakes head* gabe, gabe, gabe... he is one odd dude, lol. I have to say, I enjoyed that much more than lost Micheal. Not much else to say about it, heh. Anyway, glad you guys caught up the way you did, I'm interested to hear what you have to say about the most current episodes. By the way, Kevin, I gave you guys that iTunes review, 5 stars all the way! Keep up the great work guys.

Watching the show while joining your chat room always makes the episode better. I thought I would hate it, but turned out that it was a good episode. I think it was time that everyone railed on Gabe a bit, even though it was a little harsh. I hope there are some repercussions from it. Chiming in on the most recent podcast. 1. please, please go back and do the ones you missed over the summer, please. You can skip delivery, but please. :) 2. The vending machine bit. For a little kid, it's like treasure. As a parent I rarely get my kids something out of a vending machine, but when I do they think it's like magic. I don't know why, but that's how it is. Thanks again for the podcast, you made my day!
