I know I've been having some health issues, but some of you might be wondering when Ian & I will be getting to those promised Season One retro episodes.
I'm afraid I have some bad news. Because of work/time related issues, Ian has told me that effective immediately, he will no longer be able to participate as co-host of TWSS. When I thought up this crazy idea for a podcast last Summer, Ian really stepped in and helped save my bacon. I felt the show was something of a snooze-fest as a solo production, and he really helped to establish that sense of banter and reparte that I think we've become known for. For that, I definitely owe him a debt of gratitude. It wasn't easy putting out more than 25 episodes of TWSS this past season, and he stuck by my side through thick and thin (except when he had to go party in Hawaii... the bastard). He participated here on the blog page, and did a lot to help the show become what it was. So now I'm left with a couple of choices-- end the show, go back to a solo show, or try and find a new co-host. I think it'd be a shame to just quit, and if episode #3 of TWSS taught us anything it was that I should not do this alone. I guess that leaves option number three, although part of why I did the show in the first place was because it allowed me to work with a friend... I'm not sure if I can find someone else who I can be comfortable with or who'll make me want to record an episode when my grades are due or some other bit of trouble crops up. So here's what I'm going to do-- if you think you'd like to try and step into the TWSS co-host role, I'm going to hold open auditions. Send me an audio clip of yourself talking about an episode of THE OFFICE, making sure to tell me what you liked about it, and some things you thought could have been better. You guys know how we roll-- I don't want anyone who can't be both objective and critical of the show. If you think every episode is "the best episode," don't bother to waste my time. :) I don't really know what will come of this whole thing, to tell you the truth. Maybe I'll find someone that I really click with. Maybe we'll have a rotating panel of co-hosts. Maybe, in the end, I'll just decide to retire from the world of podcasting. We shall see. I'm planning on releasing a mini-episode sometime in the next few days which talks about this and gets out to everyone that subscribes, opening up the field for possible co-hosts even more. I just thought I'd let you guys in the "inner sanctum" get the first head's up. Thank you, too, for your patience and support of the show this past year. Both Ian and I really appreciate it.

I can\\\'t believe I\\\'m agreeing with Martin, but yeah, I get so star-struck that every time you guys read one of my comments/emails on the podcast, I had to rewind and re-listen just to be sure it was really mine. Unless, of course, it was one of my lesser comments/emails at which point I fast forwarded as fast as my pudgy finger could manage. Matt, you have a point on both counts. I stand corrected. By all means, Martin, change your ways THEN send in a clip. And for good measure, make it 1 hour long. See what you can do about hooking a virus onto it so Matt can\\\'t switch it off too. That\\\'ll show him. ;)

Blast. It\'s not even late, and I forgot to read through my post before posting. ARGH! Martin, all I meant by my first comment is that you are usually so angry and so negative that I have a hard time admitting when you\'re right. ;) Anyway . . . No more computer for me tonight!

All I can say is that I would absolutely love to hear you on the podcast, Martin, but Matt, you\\\'d have to have a third co-host who absolutely loves every episode to even things up a bit . . . :) Speaking of sending in audio clips, I\\\'m wondering if there\\\'s a length limit you want Matt? Not really thinking of applying myself but it occured to me last night that you could have a bazillion hours worth of \\\"clips\\\" to listen to if you\\\'re not careful . . .

sad! TWSS is easily my favorite podcast, but i understand how life seems to always get in the way of things we enjoy doing. Ian, i hope to hear you as a guest star! Matt, i hope you find an excellent replacement! i\'m toying with the idea of \'applying\' but i\'m not sure if i have a critical enough eye.

Ian, if you\'re reading this, thanks, man. I appreciate hearing your voice on the podcast this past year. I also thank Matt for not giving up on this thing just yet. I really love the show. I might consider taking part, but I\'m in Taipei, so I don\'t get the shows until they come out on iTunes, so there is a bit of a delay. Nomi and Martin Tsang always seem to have a lot to say. What about you guys? Hang in there!

I have to say this wasn\'t an easy decision for me, and I may end up regretting it by the time we\'re into Season 4. But my schedule\'s going to range from indefinite to hectic from now until next May, and I couldn\'t commit to doing every podcast with Matt. Especially with the bigger load of episodes. There were probably going to be some month-long stretches where I couldn\'t help out at all. And going week to week, trying to figure out if I could co-host or not, just doesn\'t seem like a good situation for anyone. Participating in this podcast has been a lot of fun, more than I could\'ve imagined when Matt first asked me to help out. Not only did I get to talk about TV, something I love doing, but I also learned a lot about podcasting, which I\'d been interested in for a long time. And I\'m grateful to Matt for allowing me the opportunity to do so. I\'ve also really enjoyed trading posts, chat, and e-mail with the people who listen, and that\'s been extremely gratifying. I hope we keep in touch throughout the next season. I don\'t plan on completely disappearing, and if Matt needs an occasional fill-in, I hope I can help out. But he\'s created something really good with this podcast, and I want to see him keep doing it. I know I\'ve put him in a tough position with trying to create a new rapport with someone that might be a relative stranger. But we have a lot of smart, funny people who listen to the show, and I\'m sure Matt will find a new co-host who can not only keep things rolling, but make it even better. So if you\'re interested, don\'t be shy about giving it a try. Thanks to everyone who\'s listened and passed along kind words. I\'ll always appreciate that. And to those who were critical, I appreciate that, too. There\'s always room to improve, and we can\'t always see that unless it\'s pointed out. In the end, we all want the same thing: to analyze and celebrate a TV show we all enjoy. I\'ll see you guys around. I\'ll just be part of the crowd from now on. Keep on rockin\'.

Dangit! You guys do have an excellent dynamic and I hope to hear you, Ian, on upcoming podcasts as a \\\"returning guest star.\\\" Thanks to both of your for all of the time and planning you put into the podcast. I know it isn\\\'t easy to mash it all together with clips--but your banter plus the show clips are what makes the podcast so dynamic, and so much better than the other ones out there.
-
Oh no! I will be sad to not hear you and Ian podcast together anymore. You guys did have a good dynamic and he is very funny. Hmm...I might be interested in cohosting. You don\'t know me, so I\'m not sure if we\'d have a dynamic, but it would be fun (for me, and hopefully for you) to give it a shot at least. Do you have a deadline yet? Oh also, I think it WOULD be a shame if you gave up the world of podcasting. I love your analysis of the episodes. So, I hope you find a new partner.

aww, snap. don\'t go! i\'ve been excitedly checking my podcasts to see if a retro episode has arrived ever since i finished the podcast for the finale! i do hope you find a cohost. i certainly have very heated discussions about each episode with my boyfriend and, well, anyone else who will humor me, but i doubt it would be anything that anyone else would want to listen to...

As a fellow teacher, I am, of course, an accomplished orator. I can drone on monotonously for hours on any elementary mathematical topic... you looking for something like that? Good luck with the auditions... there has to be a suitable jr. sales rep out there... or at least a temp you could innuendize to death. Personally, I think you should find your polar opposite and just have the podcast be a Jwight experiment.
