Wow, has it been six weeks already? After "newpeats" and "Flender-thons," we're finally back to see if Halpert receives his promised "ass beating" (thanks, Elisa!) or not. The mind boggles at the possibilities. NBC describes the episode like this: THE NEGOTIATION 8:00/7:00c TV14 04.05.2007
SALARY
NEGOTIATIONS DRIVE MICHAEL TO THINK ABOUT HIS OWN PAY - Darryl (Craig
Robinson) decides to meet with Michael (Golden Globe winner Steve
Carell) to negotiate a pay increase. Meanwhile, Jim (John Krasinski)
deals with the consequences of Pam's (Jenna Fischer) confession to Roy
(David Denman) . Rainn Wilson, B.J.Novak, Melora Hardin, Leslie David
Baker, Brian Baumgartner, Angela Kinsey, Oscar Nunez, Phyllis Smith,
Minday Kaling, Paul Lieberstein, Creed Barton, and Rashida Jones also
star.
REMEMBER-- It's "Supersized" and starts a half hour earlier than usual!

You know when a podcast has too much influence over your life when the first thing out of your mouth after watching an episode is, \"I wonder what Matt and Ian will say about this one!\" I know you probably recorded today and the podcast will be up soon, but couldn\'t you give a little teaser? I haven\'t quite got a handle on patience yet. . .

I was surprised to find that some of those Negotiation Tactics were actually in the Wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Negotiation_tactics#Tactics I\'m pretty sure these are not vandalism edits (a la the Colbert Report). It should be noted that they are not numbered, as Michael lists them.

I was surprised how happy I was to see Andy back. I know a lot of people were concerned that he couldn\'t be credibly brought back after his spectacular exit in \"The Return\"--but that was quite a spectacular entrance we just saw. I have high hopes for this character, and especially his interactions with Dwight.

Nomi - the Kelly/Ryan and Dwangela kisses didn\'t compensate for me either :-) Matt - You and Ian are in different time zones? No big deal about my west coastness leaving me out of chats. I can\'t chat and watch the show at the same time anyway, so it was mostly pointless whining on my part anyway :-)

Thanks, Megan -- I was just scrolling down to read the latest comments on this post and noticed how ridiculously lengthy my post is compared to the rest. Can I just say how happy I am to have found this podcast and little community of people who also spend a lot of time analyzing the characters on The Office up one wall and down the other? I too am looking forward to Pam\'s metamorphosis :-)

Loved this episode. I thought they did a great job handling the roy- jim thing. I agree we should see more of darryl and his sayings. Did anyone else think that it was gonna be Jim changed wikipedia on Micheal so it have him horrible negotiating techniques? Fleece it out

I just watched the episode for the second time and have gathered my thoughts about it. You guys have wondered out loud on the podcast why The Office would be the most downloaded/watched later/whatever show on TV, and I can tell you one reason: it\\\'s on too early (especially last night). Unlike louder, jokier sitcoms, you have to pay attention to The Office to get it all, and that\\\'s hard to do when my kids aren\\\'t in bed yet. Anyway... I could barely pay attention to the Michael/Darryl stuff because I wanted them to get back to the Jim/Pam/Roy plotline. I thought the scene between Jim and Pam in the kitchen was done really well. It was frustrating to see Jim just shut Pam down so completely, but I still think Jim\\\'s behavior is entirely believable, and after this episode I really feel that there has to be some kind of confrontation between them over Pam\\\'s actions before they can come together. For the first time he let just a hint of his anger and frustation with her show when he told her he thought she\\\'d end up back with Roy again. The conversation between Pam and Roy in the diner and their little hug before they went their seperate ways outside also felt really true to life. I loved it when Roy said, \\\"I don\\\'t get you, Pam,\\\" and she said \\\"I know,\\\" not in a bitter way, but you still knew she was thinking \\\"yeah, you DON\\\'T get me.\\\" I really think this changes things significantly for Pam. When she called off her wedding, she did so knowing that Jim was in love with her. When he returned to Scranton and blew her off, she went back to Roy because it was familiar. Pam on her own at the beginning of the season still, mentally, had these men in her back pocket -- now she\\\'s really alone. Maybe that\\\'s what she needs to finally figure out what the hell she wants. I also think the writers are trying to appease those of us clamoring for romance on the show -- how else to explain the never-before-seen Kelly/Ryan and Dwangela clinches, both in one episode?

Tracie: Yeah, good guess about the reason for the sudden displays of affection between couples who are not Pam and Jim. Did not compensate for me, though! And it\'s interesting how you took Pam\'s \"I know\" to Roy. I took it as meaning something like, \"yeah, I don\'t understand myself either,\" or, \"yeah, it doesn\'t make sense that I haven\'t gone after Jim.\" Something like that. But you could be right too.

Just curious if anyone else here is on Pacific time and will be in the chat room during that broadcast time in future weeks? I made the mistake of looking at comments on this thread around 5 pm my time yesterday and got a bit of a spoiler (not that Yay Dwight, he\\\'s my hero ruined my enjoyment of anything, since he can be counted on for some kind of awesomeness in pretty much every episode). I\\\'m not complaining because I can certainly just avoid looking at the comments for three hours each week -- I was just curious if I\\\'m the only one who has to wait to see new episodes till after all the rest of you. Okay, maybe I AM complaining, just not about spoilers :-)

Creed. That\'s all I have to say. Oh and, it was the first time ever I felt Jim and Karen were a couple. And I was o.k. with it, oddly. And also, it was the first time I agreed with something Roy said. I missed the chat room tonight! Oh well, I guess next week. . .

Loved it, just loved it. Dwight\'s pepper spray action, Angela wanting to hear the story over and over again, Toby in the \"Annex\", Michael and Darryl, the Dwangela kiss, all great stuff. Michael cross-dressing may have been a little over the top, but it made me laugh. Then, Andy getting sprayed when he returned? Gold, just gold. On an unrelated note, does anybody else think that the Scrubs people got the idea of Carla imagining Nurse Roberts following her around from \"Raines\"? For those of you how aren\'t sure what I\'m talking about, you can watch episodes of \"Raines\" on NBC.com.

Good to have the best comedy on television finally return! So, what say we on this week\\\'s episode? I think things are truly starting to come together. Roy and Pam have closed the door on their relationship, realizing that both of them have done wrong to one another. Their time together is over, but from the looks of things we might still see one or the other confiding in each other the way old lovers do from time to time. Jim was harsh to Pam, but wouldn\\\'t you be harsh towards someone who treated you improperly? What Pam should have did from the start is come clean to Roy, and let Jim know where they stand. Instead, she strummed both of them along, incapable of making a turn one way or the other. Dwight and Angels was priceless. It\\\'s great that Jim finally knows, and the look on his face after he walked in on them was beautiful. And Andy\\\'s return to be greeted by mace felt right. Hee. Welcome back, Office! We missed you, and we hope you remain gruntled.

I liked this episode but would have liked it more if the clip of Roy being maced hadn\'t been leaked. Really stupid... And a GREAT return for Andy! I was rolling over crying when Dwight, uh, \"welcomed\" him back. I thought for sure that Michael\'s suit was Jan\'s. I could imagine that his suit might have gotten \"stained\" and then he had to wear Jan\'s because that was the only suit available over at her place. Lots of good laughs from Toby and at the end when the reveal showed Jan standing right next to Michael. I liked Jim... You go guy! Be a hardass to Pam. At this point she F-ing deserves it!

This is the first week that I actually saw any sort of chemistry between Jim and Karen. The scene where they were in the kitchen actually gave me that warm-fuzzy feeling. That said, did Jim have to be so mean to Pam in the kitchen? Can\'t wait to watch the ep again to get the new \'ghetto speak\' that Daryll taught Michael and get more Tobey goodness. Oh yeah, Jim\'s face in the bathroom at the end...PRICELESS!!! Can\'t wait for the podcast!!

Pam you disappoint me. Of course, blah blah realism, blah stretch it out, Jim needs time to cool down. Whatever. I’m more sad about this than Nurse Robert’s dying. Dwangela. Thank you. Dwight and Angela made the episode for me. I want them to get married and have two very well behaved Schrute babies. Jim, are you mad at Pam? I couldn’t really tell. That scene was intense. But Pam, listen, I’m not going to give you any sympathy anymore when you make those mopey faces when Jim and Karen are exchanging their godless kisses. Oh well, Roy\'s gone and Karen knows how bad she and Jim are together. Make it happen cap\'n. I’m so glad 30 Rock was extra hilarious. MC Light just killed Danny Bonnaducci? Thanks phone! What say you Tsang?

I loved this episode, totally loved it. From Michael\'s accidental cross-dressing to Dwight stepping up like freakin\' Rambo, I was laughing the entire time. Oh, and this episode makes me rank Angela (the actress, not the character) as one of the funniest women on network TV. I don\'t think that Jim was exactly MAD at Pam -- I got a more of a sense of total confusion, like he knew he should feel SOMETHING, but he\'d been through so much of an emotional wringer that he didn\'t really know what that should be. Saw Blades of Glory this weekend, and while that has nothing to do with the episode, I got to say I cant seem to look at Pam the same way anymore. Seeing her in that outfit I just kept thinking of how unlike pam it was. Despite Angelas beliefs otherwise, \"walking around in her provocative outfits\". Anyway, good episode, especially the ending with Andy.
