SABRE | 2.4.10
Sabre comes in to take over Dunder Mifflin and Michael has difficulties accepting their new policies. Erin is waiting for Andy to ask her out while they work on a welcoming song for the company's new owners. Meanwhile, Jim and Pam interview for a local daycare center they hope to get into. Kathy Bates guest stars. -----------
In a long-standing Hollywood tradition, yet another actor will step BEHIND the camera to direct an episode of The Office-- This time, John Krasinski, perhaps best known as the husband of Emily Blunt (ha ha), takes the reigns. We've already talked about our feelings for the whole Kathy Bates move, so we'll just see how it plays out. Hopefully, I'll be pleasantly surprised by her performance.
As always, leave your comments below. Don't forget to join Kevin and me in the TWSS Chatroom before and during the episode. Just click that "Chat Now" button on the right-hand sidebar.

Where\'s the podcast? It\'s been two weeks, the next episode comes out tomorrow, and I\'m dying to hear what you thought of this one. I\'m feeling very ambiguous about it. I\'m worried that Matt hated it so much, he\'s given up the whole TWSS podcast and moved on to something less dicey, like Kitchen Nightmares or something

Loved the cold open, it was a nice set up for the episode. Why on earth would they cast Christian Slater? Was Bruce Campbell unavailable? While I do have much love for Kathy Bates, her part could have been easily played by many unknown actors, which would be prefered. Love the \"infantry\" jokes, almost as funny as walking in on the guy in the bathroom. Andy Buckley was great, however the casting on his kid seems like an odd choice. Maybe we\'ll see a future plot about how it\'s not really his kid after all.

It\'s funny that someone here said that they didn\'t recognize Gabe, because I said to myself \"He looks familiar.\" Turns out, he was in the awesome Office-style comedy IN THE LOOP as a brown nosing assistant to a politician (one of the characters called him a \"crap Jesus\"). So I thought this ep was good for both the big and little guest stars. Overall, I thought this was a solid episode to come back from after the lengthy break (not counting the clip show, obviously). Loved the cold open (Matt and Kevin have to do the \"I got a big box\" bit for the podcast), the awkward song was great and the whole thing had that vintage OFFICE taste to it. And oh how the mighty have fallen, although to be fair I wouldn\'t say that Michael was responsible for Wallace\'s downward spiral.

Do you think that Ryan was wearing the glasses so we would not mix him up with the Sabre guy. He looked a lot like Ryan and even reminded me a lot of corporate Ryan. Especially when he said the line about not being paper salesmen but printer salesmen that also sell paper.

This episode can \"suck it.\" Okay, a bit harsh and maybe inappropriate, but wow I was really disappointed with this episode. Christian Slater - wtf? (I guess I missed the notice that he was going to be on the show.) The Andy/Erin song was pretty good, but I\'m a little tired of waiting for them to get together. I do like them as a couple, but they\'re not Jim and Pam and the ongoing wait for them to go out is frustrating. And then there\'s my poor beloved David Wallace...I get that he\'s upset, but seriously - the suck it? Just sad... Perhaps I\'m just cranky from shoveling all this freaking snow. I\'m glad others enjoyed this episode and I\'m looking forward to the podcast. Maybe after listening to Matt and Kevin, and reading other posts, I\'ll change my mind. But I think I preferred the clip show last week over this episode.

When Michael went to open the box from Sabre, and mispronounces the name Sah- bray (as they all were until the guy arrived) it reminded me of the scene from a Christmas Story when the dad received the big wooden crate with the word fagile on it and he pronounces it fra-gee-lay On another note, I don\'t like seeing our David Wallace all sad and out of work but I don\'t see the \"SuckIt\" as the savior to his career. I thought the part about the new company blocking access to the anti-productivity websites was funny. I would probably panic in that type of situation but now you can do all that stuff on a smartphone and not even use the company computers.

I think The Office has lost it. I\'m looking at the above comments, how this is the best episode of the season, but think about what you\'re saying, this season has been TERRIBLE! Of course this episode did have such competition as the almighty \"clip show\"... ugh. Compare this episode to what The Office \"used to be\", and I cringe. Oh look, Michael got angry and stormed out because he\'s going to be managed again, where have we seen this before? At least he didn\'t start his own paper company again. In my opinion the clip show hinted at, and this episode proved, that the writers have lost all original ideas concerning this show and have sunk to attempting at our laughs with scenes such as walking in on somebody using the restroom... yes, literal potty humor. Now as I understand it, the next two episodes will be focused around the most sarcastic couple in America having their spawn. Perhaps \"PB&J\" should\'ve listened to that gentleman during the interview, you two really AREN\'T as nice or adorable as you THINK you are! I\'ve got to the point where I roll my eyes whenever they come on screen anymore. I was a fan of them getting together, and Jim being a jackass when single was somewhat acceptable, although I fell more on the side of Dwight most of the time, but them just acting like assholes at every turn is getting old. I feel like I\'m watching a teen comedy with the \"cool kids\" table making fun of all the \"lesser folk\", is there no creativity left!? Anyway, as you can tell, I\'m more than let down with what The Office has become. I counted myself as a huge fan of theirs before this season, but after this episode I\'ll just watch them when I have time, hoping to see some of the old magic come back. On the other hand though, I\'m a big fan of the podcast, and often times look more forward to the podcast than to the actual episodes, so keep up the AWESOME work guys! I\'ve listened to all of your episodes... twice! (I work very long hours, and listen to my iPod in one ear while working, most of the time, heh.)

I enjoyed this episode much more on a second viewing. I actually liked the cold open. The scissor bit was funny. There were a couple great one liners in the episode. Pam looks SO fake pregnant! And she isn\'t moving with the costume as if it\'s an actual baby. She is acting like it\'s a pillow she put on, so that is not helping the illusion. She needed to do some more research before her character went this direction. Wow, David Wallace is Jan. Evidently, if you are trying to manage Michael Scott, at some point you will go crazy. The Jim and Pam story line didn\'t really go anywhere, I was a little disappointed. I get that they were going for awkward humor, but it didn\'t really have a beginning, middle, end. I miss old Pam and Jim more this season than ever. Andy and Erin have completely taken over as the sweet characters. Sad...

My thoughts after first watch: “Infantry” was the best joke of the episode. My one, true laugh-out-loud moment. I want to know why Pam’s maternity wear is so Angela-ish. She’s been a better dresser in the last few seasons, why wouldn’t she have somewhat more stylish maternity clothes? I am skeptical about how this whole Sabre thing, but I thought it had just the right amount of big-name appearances last night. It was nice that the main new person, Gabe, was not someone I recognized.

I loved this episode, by far the best of the season, and may have possibly saved a season, which to me was kind of stuck in the doldrums. Everything about this one was great, I can\'t think of a single thing I didn\'t enjoy. Great use of the guest stars. I hope we get to see a little more of Kathy Bates she\'s perfect for this role, and I loved the use of Chrisian Slater and Jim\'s response to it. Michael was the perfect amount of crazy here, not over the top at all, and I can see where he\'s coming from. Great cold open, especially with the \"scissor me\" line and I think we\'ve all experienced trying to repackage something. At first I didn\'t really enjoy the Jim and Pam plot until the interview scene, so akward and hilarious. Great use of David Wallace here too. It\'s funny how much not having a job can affect a persons pschye. I think showing Wallace like this really effectively shows how he mismanaged the company. How great was that bumper with Wallace and his son just rocking out. Look forward to a great podcast guys.

First off, when did Ed Helms join the opening credits??? Has it been there and I never noticed? Loved this episode. Andy and Erin singing to is always good in my book. Poor David Wallace - I really thought Dunder Mifflin would keep him on, but glad to see he\'s enjoying his time off. There was a line of what looked like Corona in the fridge, but they were drinking green bottles in the hot tub - how much is that guy drinking?? Maybe that would explain Suck-it. Too much change is not a good thing - ask the climate. So my question is, how will Michael out-Sabre Sabre and make some changes?
