From Wikipedia: VIEWING PARTY Erin and Gabe invite the office over to Gabe's house for a Glee viewing party. Michael can't deal when people refer to Gabe as his boss. Andy grows more jealous of Gabe's relationship with Erin. ---- Yet another episode written by a virgin THE OFFICE writer this week-- I'm trying to put my faith in writer John Vitti, though, because he's written for THE SIMPSONS and KING OF THE HILL (two of my all time favorites). I can only hope that he "brings it" better than fellow newbie Peter Ocko did with last week's craptacular episode (TWSS episode forthcoming). Fingers crossed, but the inclusion of GLEE makes me extremely nervous. As always, leave your comments below and join Kevin and me in the TWSS Chatroom during and after the airing of tonight's episode.

I think the MST3k folks said it best when they advised to never show a GOOD movie in the middle of your BAD movie! Or in this case, don't show a good show in the middle of your bad one. Pull it together, Office, please -- I don't like using MST3k references on you!

Funniest line of the whole episode: "and what was with Jesse's sudden turn on Rachel between Dream On and Funk? Where the heck did that come from? Honestly, that show… it's just— it's irresponsible." I almost fell out of my chair I was laughing so hard! As a musical theater major I am a Glee fan for the musical numbers, but the writing is atrociously bad. The fact that Kelly, as a writer, pointed it out was great! Then, the thing that made it even funnier was that they went on to a scene with Gabe (I think) and it was like they were subtly admitting that his storyline has been handled "irresponsibly" too! Or maybe I just read that into it! Otherwise, this was kind of a weird episode. Can't wait to hear the podcast!

This was an episode that bears very little resemblance to the early seasons. I guess it's like email surveillance and the party at Jims place, but much more pretentious. I thought Gabe on a personal level would be more stripped down/boring/nerdy. Like he would have the kind of apartment that George Clooneys character had in Up in the Air, a bachelor condo with zero personal effects. Gabe's apt was decorated like some trying too hard to impress. The Glee episode btw was titled "Duets" and aired a few weeks ago. When Kelly said they missed seeing them sing Blinded by the light, with an actual blind person, that piece was invented by our Office writers. Everything else from the episode they watched was accurate. I thought it was funny how Oscar tried to appear as if he didn't know or care for the show, but he and Kelly were the ones most absorbed in it. I enjoyed the Dwight comforts the baby plotline, with Jim having to bring and feed him the pizza and beer, and there were some great callbacks to how Pam married Dwights greatest enemy and how she helped him when he had a concussion in The Injury.. We have now seen the baby almost very episode so far. It getting to be a bit much.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't 'Glee' a FOX show? It just seemed weird to include so many references to a hit show (current ones, too, if the 'Gleeks' I know are to be believed) on a show from a rival network, especially when the plot didn't exactly hinge on that particular show.

I admit that I have been frustrated with the direction of the show, more specifically the character developments. Or lack thereof in many cases. Like so many other comments I've read, I miss the more subtle nuances that made the show funny and I'm frustrated by the constant slapstick, in your face humor. But complaining aside, this episode was decent. Kind of a poor man's 'E-mail Suveillance' remake. And as a huge Glee fan, I was super excited to see my two shows together. (Plus I've always wondered what Matt's thoughts were about Glee since he's a teacher and there are no good Glee podcasts out there...hint hint.) I'm interested to see the other comments. It was refreshing to have Erin act like a normal person and the ending was really touching. And there was an extra clip online showing Stanley which was hilarious and should have been part of the episode. Although Jim feeding Dwight was incredibly creepy and I don't think I want pepperoni pizza any time soon.

#$%@!!! Was that the conclusion to the Scranton Strangler arc? Say it isn't so! Well, they didn't show Toby in the office with everybody else, so I still have hope. Otherwise, not a bad episode. Not very funny, but some good character moments. I have to admit that I really, really, really enjoyed watching Jim being humiliated by Dwight. But, like Kelly said the other week, does Michael have make EVERY party he goes to all about himself? It is beyond old at this point.

This episode was a welcome back to the "regular" office. That being said, it was the also another episode of everyone getting together to hangout. Back to back episodes of this? If they had placed it at a different part of the seasoon it might have worked better. I loved Michael's "Walk with me!" quote. I also liked the Jim and Dwight "banter" moment. Not sure what I think about the Michael as Erin's dad bit but I didn't mind it. Overall a welcome change from last week's trash heap.

is that really the end of the scranton strangler? if so then thats a real letdown. I enjoyed the second part of the episode, with jim and dwight but i did not like the michael plotline at all, nor the andy one much. Im just looking forward to when they go back to the office, hopefully WHUPF will be just that

Toby HAS to be the Scranton Strangler! I didn't see him around the TV with the rest of the gang, and he wasn't at the viewing party. Wish they'd tied that up at the end. LOVED Jim and Dwight's interaction as Dwight was holding CeCe. Laughed out loud the entire time. I've been a desperate, sleep-addled mom, so I was totally on Team Pam last night. Can't wait to see what other posters have to say because I just touched on the highlights - it wasn't nearly 100% perfect, especially for those of us who don't watch "Glee".

I think I should take Kevin's job as the person who checks out all the facts and details. The episode they watch in glee is 'duets' which broadcasted on october 12 2010. Jim checks out the basketball games on, and it said miami vs new york. the nba season hadnt started at that point and on that day miami heat were playing cska moscow in preseason, and the miami hurricanes were playing duke university. would it have been that difficult to show a real sport update? they could have done the nhl, as the season had started at that point.

Wow, how to describe this episode? I liked it, but It was so odd. Very disappointed that the Scranton Strangler was caught in the cold open. Really? all that hype, and they don't even show his face? although, we never did see FLENDERSON!!!!! this episode, so maybe.... Liked seeing Petulant, childish Michael back. Not sure how idiot Michael was able to figure out how to sabotage Gabe's cable without killing himself, but;oh well. Erin was surprisingly normal this week. The Michael/Father thing was kind of funny, wondering how that will play out further on. I don't need to hear any more about Phylis and Bob's disturbing sex life, ick. Speaking of Ick, The Daryl/Andy relationship is getting kind of odd....... At least Angela ended up naked instead of Meredith, I thought for sure She would embrace the free booze and end up flashing somewhere in this episode, thank God she didn't. But why would Angela sit naked in a Car in November, then give in kind of easily to Dwight not showing up? not buying her reaction to that. Did enjoy Pam bringing up Dwight's concussion, and the Dwight/Pam/Jim Angle. That was enjoyable. Overall, fairly enjoyable episode. Looking forward to hearing Matt and Kevin's take on it!

This episode was definitely an improvement from last weeks disaster. Even though the plot did seemed very spread out and was only connected by the idea that the whole office would get together to watch some random episode of Glee. I loved Kevin's pig in a blanket joke, creed translating, pizza in the fan. Little gems like that made this episode great. Ryan is a douche, but Gabe is king douche no matter how nice and caring he is. Besides Andys plot, I enjoyed all the other plots a lot. Lack of Toby in the episode only proves to me he was the Scranton Strangler. Overall grade: B

Wow, what a terribly blah episode. None of it due to Glee wackily enough. Gabe is kind of a bitch and Michael is a petulant child. Yay? Even the Creed gag wasn't that good. Vomiting Andy doesn't make a good episode. D+ Mainly due to the Dwight stuff. It's far from the best but it got so ridiculous that I couldn't help but laugh. On a side note, if you do a Glee episode get the episode right. Mixing and matching doesn't work.

I think Viewing Party was a decent episode over all. Andy's plot had more of Andy and Darryl friendship. Also the Phyllis comforting Andy because of Erins and Gabes relationship seemed a lot like when she comforted Dwight because of Angelas and Andys relationship. Also I think the Shrut daycare center will be getting some buisness now knowing Dwights skills taking care of babies.
